Ok, maybe I did not read enough or the wrong thing. If a person signs up for a preimum account after 21 July 2006 their weekly stipends will be about 400 lindens a week.
Now I have had my preimum account since November 2005. I am due to renew my preimum account in November 2006. When I renew, what will be my weekly stipends?
500 lindens per week as my original contract or 400 lindens a week because I am renewing contract?
If I continue to renew my preimum membership each year will I always get 500 lindens per week as my original preimum membership benefits stated.
I do not believe I saw that spelled out anywhere.
Will a linden please clarify this! PLEASE!

You will not be impacted George. This is about when your account was created, not how often you pay.
"New Premium accounts that are registered on or after Friday July 21, 2006, will have a weekly stipend of L$400, down from L$500. Stipends for current Premium accounts are not affected by this change."

From: Persephone Milk I am astonished that people are so upset about what amounts to thirty cents worth of Linden dollars per week. I'm not. Look at my prediction on the first page of this thread. I expected it.

From: Raudf Fox Actually, I get the feeling that they are heading this way. Except that the 'same stipend' is going to be 'none'. And when it hits the older premiums, I'm going basic and LL won't see a single penny from me. It's cheaper to rent the land than it is to keep using their system. I have to laugh everytime someone says this. When you rent land from another player, you're still paying LL. Sorry to burst your bubble there. The land baron you're renting from is just an intermediary, they still have to turn your money around and send it to LL.

This stipen reduction is a celebration of one year into my Second Life World Domination Plan. King Kilroy is in charge now and Philip and the Linden stooges are under my control. Be afraid - be very very afraid.

The land baron you're renting from is just an intermediary, they still have to turn your money around and send it to LL. Well, that's true, but it wouldn't be directly coming from my bank account. I also rambled a bit and then realized within that same post that they might actually be slowly doing away with the premium accounts and do straight charging for the land, which if they follow the tier chart is 5 USD for the same 512m2 that premiums get as a base. This would be an acceptable and understandable explaination for all the changes. I only pay the premium base for both the combination of land and stipend right now. Without the stipend, I'd only be willing to pay the 5 USD for the tier. Premium would no longer be worth the full price or reduced if you pay quarterly/yearly, and being premium would be far less desirable. Anything over the 5 USD is the price I pay LL directly for the L to spend in world. This explains the change for them to be able to sell the L on the Lindex... it's to make up the eventual loss of revenue between the cost of the 5 USD tier and premium accounts fees? Not just as an act to stablize the L/USD... since it would be removing the sinks... I think that going with the tier chart instead of using the basic/premium would actually open up the land market to more people. It's cheaper for players, for one. If this makes sense and I am right.. now I know what drugs the Lindens are on. It's called Zyrtec-D.

And I admit with a whole and happy heart that economics is not my subject. I have been at the bottom of corporate food chains though to be able to guess the why's of things, even if I don't fully understand the details. I'll go back to letting it go over my head again and wait and see, then.
