I don't know if there is already a plan for one but a beer hall is a must...its where the citizens congregate to talk business and polotics.

I have been looking at examples of Biegartens on the web. I'm just not sure about the 90-10 thing. My brain is spinning it around. Who knows what it will stop on.

I have a couple of fun ideas:

After we take possession of the land I'm going to set up 3 different platforms with "sighting rings" so I can take pictures of city so we can see how it changes over time. (Does anyone know a repeatable way we can take pictures from the same position and rotation easily? Maybe that new telescope that was just invented?)


I also thought it would be fun to build some cranes and stacks of raw materials to look like the city was actually being built. I know the city won't be complete for our Oktoberfest on the 16 October, so I thought it might be a fun way to show things are still under construction and generate interest in returning.

Funny you should say that, I had a similar idea but for all of us!

I want to take snapshots of all the members of the original group and use them to create tapestries for the castle. Every member would have their own tapestry and there would be one large one of the whole group.

We've been talking about a beer tent for Oktoberfest but I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned a beer hall yet. I'll add it to the list!

I cant get into game for a few more hours so can't test it. I think we could create a seat or something to sit on, then sit on it, go into mouselook mode.

Great idea Ulrika. We could put up construction fences (those orange ones or the kinds the NYC uses -- boards with posters on them!) around lots.

That's got to be it! I bet that's how the telescope works as well. Now if only there were a way to take pictures on a regular schedule without an avatar present ...

Ulrika I built real life construction dumpsters in world...they've never had a use but a few dumpsters around will help give it the feel

There's a very nice municipal dumpster that's free to copy in Michael Linden's "Free Bazaar" --some saw horses as well

I would also like to have a few official parties and ceremonies. The first will be our project kickoff ceremony that will be the 10th of October. After that we'll have Oktoberfest on the 16th of October. Finally, we'll have a city dedication ceremony sometime in late November or early December.

I'd like fireworks for the city dedication.

Well, i know you guys want to do it.. so ill let yall.. ill pose so yall can make the monument of me. no problems with that =) just make sure the statue is gold not bronze.

A central park. It was a brillant move in city planning for NYC and could be done on a smaller scale for your needs. A lake or pond with nice trees and landscaping and benches around in public and secluded spots. Perhaps an amphitheater, surrounded by trees, for public events.

*afterthought edit. I guess the lake would have to be frozen (unless it is a hot spring fed one) but that might provide a social venture for ice skating.

I think a very cool feature of a lake would be to have it be unfrozen during the day, with slow moving texture animations and phantomed, but then "freeze up" during the night cycle and become solid.

I filled mine up with water and used it for a swimming pool

And here I thought I created the most useless thing in SL

I had another idea! I'm so busy talking about how to immortalize ourselves in the city, that I forgot about Haney, our demigod, who actually made this possible.

We must find a way to honor him in the city! I was thinking making him the patron saint, creating a statue, and even using his image in religious artwork in the church. Anyone else have ideas?

Maybe have a statue with a placard that says on such a such day Haney Linden Granted our request to start the community of Neualtenburg. Through his understanding and efforts ...blah blah blah...

I think that might be more appropriate.

I agree. Let's keep Linden worship to a minimum and make it a genuine secular "thank you".

I like this idea of having a dynamic environment. Right now the city will be pretty dense but perhaps a location will present itself when laying out the city. I'll keep it in mind.

Dynamic environments are the best and feel "more real". We need streetlamps that light at night, traffic signals (old fashioned ones, with the STOP and GO signs that pop out of them) that move, birds in the air, etc...

I can help script these if needed and could even take up the task of making the city more dynamic.
