From: Simil Miles * I have discovered a "secret" method that allows a non physical prim to be moved over 768m and even over 4096m and stay there. Before "revealing" it I'd like to see who else knows it, so if you do, post it ! I don't know any secret methods, but I've boosted a physical prim up to whatever altitude, and then just made it nonphysical. Possible with a script, too. It stays unless you mess with it. In fact, someone used to sell some kind of space shuttle-y thing that boosts waaaaay up there, unpacks a skystation and... there you are. Gotta jump to it using 'sit' but otherwise it worked well. It was the guy with the money trees selling those, I think.

It shoots you up to 4000 meters and rezzes (resolves?) an "Emergency Landing Pad". Works pretty well.

Quoth Sark 1.0:
[Paces back and forth on the deck of his carrier as he addresses his new recruits]
"Greetings. The Master Control Program has chosen you to serve your system on the Game Grid. Those of you who continue to profess a belief in the Users will receive the standard substandard training that will result in your eventual elmination. Those of you who renounce this superstitious and hysterical belief will be eligible to join the Warrior Elite of the MCP. Each of you will be given an identity disc."
[Displays his own disc to the crowd]
"Everything you do or learn will be imprinted on this disc. If you lose your disc or fail to follow commands, you will be subject to immediate de-resolution. That will be all. "

From: Calveen Kline So, what is the secret method? Do I have to buy tickets to get the answer? Lol. I was wondering this, too. If we could just get past the rezzing dispute ...

you can "inchworm" prims higher... I know that much. Stretch the top 10m up, then the bottom 10m up, then the top again then the bottom.
There's other ways too.

There's other ways too. Theoretically this shouldn't work over 768m since the prim's center is moved when stretching, but it does work ! Bravo to Winter Ventura for this method. There's now 2 ways to move a non-physical prim (non-physically) over 768m as this one isn't the one I use. Note : for it to work you must uncheck "Stretch both sides". Unfortunately this can't be scripted, also it doesn't allow to go over 4096m.

From: Chosen Few Good stuff.
One minor point though. I'm not sure all would agree with your definition of the word "rez". It's not really an abbreviation for "resolve" or "resolution", but actually an homage to Tron. In the movie, when the characters created objects in the computer world, they called the process "rezzing".
While the supposition that "rez" in Tron could have stood for "resolve" or "resolution" is logical, it's not accurate. To my knowledge, the writers of Tron have never explained what the word was supposed to mean. My guess is they just thought it sounded cool, and it didn't actually stand for anything at all. That is just a guess though, just as supposing it's an abbreviation is a guess.
It would be best to stick with facts, and the only confirmed fact here is that the word originated with Tron. Anything beyond that is just maybe-kinda-sorta-I-think-so, ya know? When I first saw the word 'rez' I immediately assumed it meant 'resolve' - a quick web search for definitions seems to support this - I suppose it could be just coincidence but do you really think that is likely? Really? Resolve has many definitions, but among them: American Heritage Dictionary - To render parts of (an image) visible and distinct. Wordnet - to make clearly visible; "can this image be resolved?" American Heritage: Stedman's Medical Dictionary - To render an image visible and distinct. To me, these definitions exactly describe what happens when you rez something in SL - you render it (the image) visible and distinct, you 'resolve' it... QED Cat x PS - I just invented a new word for pressing your lips against someone else's - 'kiz' - what do you think? Will it catch on? I just thought of it, it just came to me out of the ether. Any similarity between this word and any other is purely coincidental... or not... as the case may be... PPS - Am I a geek now? PPPS - Give us a kiz!

I went ahead and posted my script to the library. Drop it in a prim along with the item you want to rez(a platform for example), sit on the prim and then touch it. It is set so that it will take you up to 4,090 meters and rez the platform. Enjoy! /54/ca/210616/1.html

Time to "reveal my secret method" : Simply use llSetPos() in a child prim. This allows you to move the child prim over 768m as long as you don't move the root, and also allows you to move the child prim over 4096m as long as the root is below and doesn't move either. Link distance limit still applies of course.

::wonders why everyone cares so much about word origins and meanings when what's important is the ACTION it describes... prim made... prim deleted::
neat trick... now the fun question.... isn't the child prim limited to maximum link distance? (I suppose you can rez and relink etc....)
