I'm not talking about her AO.
Many shoes include an AO themselves. If the shoe contains a tiptoe AO, then that AO may be poorly adjusted to her avatar's size or proportions.

there couldn'd be any ao in these shoes, simply 'cause the guy who crafted 'em, it's me.

Have a look at the base shoe by itself.
It's hard to figure this out from where I sit, but that doesn't mean there isn't a simple answer. So with bare feet and no ao she still is hovering slightly? All I can think of is get to the point where she is closest to the ground (I mean detach everything) then add components one by one until you see her rise up. _____________________

I would do this, if LL hand' made things a way that its' frustrating to select pieces nested one into another... damn to them

I wonder... This discussion made me curious so i did some tests with my own shoes.
And this is what I discovered after some experimentations: On top of a flat horizontally aligned prim: 1.) As soon as i stand on top of a PRIM (not a sculptie), all my shoes make me hover slightly above the prim, even if the prim is a flat object and aligned horizontally. 2.) The hovering also appears when i am standing on the prim without any shoes, so in fact its not the shoes, that make me hover, but the prim on the ground ![]() 3.) When i move to terrain, without shoes i seem to mostly stand flat on the ground. a small hovering effect still remains. And no i am wearing no AO. 4.) When i wear my prim shoes without a shoe base, i keep standing slightly above ground, same as without shoes. 5.) When i wear the shoe base, nothing unexpected happens. So my conclusion is: When standing on a Prim, i do hover. When standing on terrain, i don't hover. And this seems to be true for all of my shoes and all of the other shoes, which i bought in the past... But since you mentioned AO's, tiptoe AO's and such... Is there a possibility to compensate the "hovering on a prim" effect ??? If so, how would that be done ? |

Yes, that's why I asked about standing on the ground. One would think that adjusting the av down in an ao to make it not hover on prims would make it also sink into the ground a bit. _____________________

The size of a prim defined by the physics engine is slightly larger (10mm, on average) than the visible size. The shape of prims as the physics engine sees them is also somewhat simplified. For large twisted prims (prim rocks, for example) you may find yourself walking as much as 20cm above or below the visible surface of the prim as a result.
The ground mesh used by the physics system is also simplified, and on uneven ground you may find yourself walking above or below the real ground. There is nothing you can do about this. _____________________

But the real quesion is: WHY THIS HAPPENS? And why LL doesn't makes us aware of such issues (for I guess that they were already aware of this and the rest, though nothing about on any FAQS)?
"Weirdness"? This sounds to me rather like a system made by people unable to planify by long terms. Or do you call "weirdness" also the subversion of the cartesian axis, e.g.? Because the size of a prim is only approximated by the physics engine. See my comment two messages above yours. didn't readed; I wrote it before you posted yours. |

Now i get even more curious... Why would one want to make the physical size bigger than the visible size ? Maybe because of problems with collision detection ? (just guessing) _____________________

solved; the soil of the land, doens't give the problem. it was the floor of the house (any houses; prim floors, of course).
