That's profoundly disturbing as Darwin Appleby has been a spectacular forum contributor. If he has indeed left the game, he will be greatly missed.

It's a great idea still.

I agree!

You guys need to form a small, tight team and get some working myst stuff going.

The irony is that I had been working on a D'Ni related project long before Darwin started this thread. It now appears to have also outlasted his stewardship.

I'm not able to spend a lot of time working on it. However I do have a building to house the puzzle and D'Ni related accoutrements, as well as a small "causeway" area outside the building proper. I've uploaded D'Ni linking book related sounds, which are available inside the building to those in the Myst group.

I'm hoping that someone takes the initiative and works on a Linking Book object. I envision something that is essentially a wrapper round llTeleport(). Animating the book and page turning, though, will be a problem.

I was also thinking that, unlike other themes, D'Ni related projects could actually take place throughout all the sims, all linked by, of course, linking books. This should make it more appealing to the Lindens in that a whole single area need not be set aside; this could easily be a "fill in the land gaps" kind of project. This presumes, of course, that the project gets enough stuff to merit such formal support.

3 or 4 good puzzles anda nice looking corner of the world would do the trick.

I've got one puzzle in mind, so we'll at least have one puzzle to start.

First ya got to prove yourself :)

Again, the irony is that I started my project before Darwin started this thread. I was content to just muddle by making wee incremental changes here and there, gradually growing to full functionality. If I (we?) don't get full Linden support, that's ok; if I (we?) do, then that's just a wonderful bonus.

(i'd love to see some team ones!)

The new Myst game, Uru, has some puzzles that are possible to solve by yourself, but are much, much easier to solve if you have help. (Unfortunately the multiplayer version is still in beta; fortunately I'm one of the few that got invited in. w00t.) I can see multiplayer mandatory puzzles, though I can also see where developing and testing them could be a bit challenging.

Meanwhile, I'll just keep pluggin' away. :)
