(note that Andrew has expressed interest in Sunday, but times are still soft)

I will be donating 10,000 L$ to LindenLabs for Katrina efforts for him to be at this event.

If you'd like to be at the event, I'd like to have a further donation of 1000 L$ per head.. however, that is up for debate of course.

Note that unedited chat scripts will be freely available to everyone.

I will be sponsoring Strife Onizuka to be at the event whether or not the fee is charged. If you'd like sponsorhip to be at the event as well, please IM me in world and I will definitely consider it.

Also, if you think you should be hosting this event and not I, then please consider donating more than 11,000 L$ and I will show up at your event. :)

What is the event? Times TBD, but what about nailing it down to Sat or Sun?

Probably sunday evening. When would be good for you?

I'd like to pick a time that works for technical folks as well as Andrew, so it's still up in the air a bit.

What would be the topic? Or would Andrew be deciding that?

I will contribute by making a special building for the event, shaped like a hollow cut torus, as tribute to one of SL's coolest coders :)

I think it would be directed by those who attend.

However, Andrew has provided some guidance:

Andrew Linden - Gridmonkey, speaking on SL technology, physics engine, tutorials on vehicles, scripting, and physics engine, discuss programming feature requests that might normally be very low priority, and listening to rants and feature requests.

Great, donations of 1000 L$ will be collected after the event.

Please post in this thread if you are coming.

Note, there will be limited seating as it would be nice to hold this event without repeaters. It would also be nice to have a two-way conversation and not so much a townhall type scenario.

People who post first in this thread will get priority seating.

Perhaps I could make two suggestions...

1) Use the in-world tool to buy a "pass" for L$ 1000. I know, it's one of the most unused features of SL - but let's put it to good use!

2) Wouldn't it be appropriate to hold it durin the Log-O-Thon? ;) Discussing SL's technology while it is being stressed to the utmost at the same time just sounds right :) (that would mean Sunday, 3-4 PM, game time) Also, it would be slightly better for us poor Euros...

Thanks for the wonderful idea!

I don't think it is necessary to turn this into a donation festival. If people want to donate to ARC, they can do so directly. I am not going to donate a dime through SL as I have already given directly to ARC. This feels too much like "charging to talk to a Linden." I think your heart is in the right place though.

So when and where will this be?

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

This is not meant to be a "charge" to talk to a Linden.

I think we're all trying to brainstorm some ways to do a benefit for Katrina via the Lindens, and it's not my intention to keep out anyone who really wants to be there but can not afford it.

Huns, I will happily pay for your entry fee.

Also, Gwyneth, I think your suggestion is great. Does anyone else mind it if we move the time to 3pm on Sunday?

I'll need to verify with Andrew, of course..

Depending on the time I'll be there too - the Euro friendlier the better as long as Andrew can make it!

I was planning to ask about...
  1. Havok 2 Status
    1. How is it coming?
    2. Will it be ready for 1.7?

  2. Plans for vehicles
  3. Avatar Improvments
    1. Skeletol symetry - you beleive the SL skeleton isn't symetic?
    2. Additional attach points
    3. Dynamic Skelton

  4. Script Improvements
    1. Shared Memory
    2. XML-RPC
    3. Mono

  5. How will removing the ratings bonus stabilize the economy?
    1. How will this effect the SL retention rate? Currently it is around 3/10 users.
    2. Wouldn't a more effective way of stabilizing the economy to introduce incentives for developers instead of for land owners?
      1. The majority of those cashing out thier lindens have no interest in buying inworld objects, so if there were more new and cool inworld objects, maybe they might buy them.
        1. If there were new cool features that could facilitate the creation of new cool items...

I'll be there, whenever it is.

The log-a-thon would be ok I guess.

Strife, good topics, I like em. Also I'd suggest in that Ratings category to add "Ideas for replacement and how development on them is going", remember that we were discussing that for the longest time, I'm curious if LL has chosen a path and if so, how development is going.

Also "Replacement for permissions system" and development of said replacement, same as above but with Permissions.

And as extra... "Request for more pictures of 2.0 renderer" :p
