Working as designed.

The "anim" based messages happen only when you start a pose using that anim. It was a very simply implemented suggestion from a user, so I added it. Originally, it only had the timed pose-based messages.

This should be clear from the MLP-Tools readme; I'll check that next time I'm ingame.

The pose methodology only allows you to send a single arousal level to both avatars, which doesn't really match the reality of certain poses, if you get my drift, hence I wanted to use the animations instead.

Or can you use multiple pose entries with the same name with different ball numbers? That way ball 1 could have one 20001 level and tilt and ball two another.

I'd like to fix this one way or another. Would you prefer a 3rd choice, perhaps "anim_r" (animation repeat), or hang a parameter on the end of the existing anim string (which may break stuff)?

You can configure per-pose, per-ball. Please re-read the .XCITE example.

Well, the first phase of script memory limits per parcel DID kick in with the last rolling restart (to Second Life Server 1.30.2).

It makes the "optimization" of using only one list for ~memory fail -- a bed that works without the optimization gets a stack-heap collision with it, just as I suspected.

Good thing that happened quickly, before the MLPV2.4p version got widely distributed.

BTW, there's another issue with MLPV2.4p, which I'm fixing.

Don't bother - I read it wrong. With the latest version, everything's working fine.

Just for clarification .. the XStreet listing claims the most recent is 2.3 something and I couldn't find the release at jPose island ...

........... Does the Xstreet distribution actually contain the most recent available release?

and

........... Am I looking in the wrong place at the island?

Thanks!

SLX has the latest 2.3 version.
jPose Island FREEBIES section has the latest 2.4 version. Use the LM in my profile picks, or see the TP pad near the entrance at jPose.

2.4 adds configurable swaps, and allows the sitter to adjust his or her position using the keyboard. It also has a couple bug fixes as mentioned above. But it adds an extra script that can't be removed (~swap) even if you don't use the feature.

Earlier I'd set out the latest 2.4 version but forgot to set it for sale.

Yeah, that's been there since original MLP. I keep meaning to fix it, and I'm sure I have a few times, but never where the code ended up in the release train.

Which script is it in? I'm about to release something so I may as well fix my local copy.

Selecting a Pose I have to select it twice
10-22-2009 05:52
Hi, I am having a problem with the latest release of MLPV2. When I select a pose, for example I select standing kiss for my pose. My partner and I will go into the pose, but it wont be the way it was set up and saved. If I then click the same pose again, we then align up perfectly the way that the pose is set up and saved.
Has anyone else had this issue, and is there a fix for it?
Thanks.

with 2.4q every time I do a reset scripts or restart and touch to get the menu after load it comes up with the dialogue saying that (blank line) is using the menu and do I want to continue (despite me being the one to reset it) and there being no one within miles of me.

I've tried it on 5 items now and it happens for each. It's minor I grant you but it is a new bug as it didn't used to happen.

The only time it doesn't happen is if i rez a switched off copy and start it. If I reset or restart after that it appears.

That's actually a very old issue. It happens if you click immediately after it starts up. Well, it shows my name rather than a blank line, maybe this is something new.

No, haven't seen that, and I've been using Q a lot lately. Are you in an area with lots of lag? (Script lag, where the sim has too many scripts to run so script processing is slowed down.)

Interested if anyone else is seeing this.

Make sure you haven't duplicated any scripts by accident. Of course, poser, poser 1, ... poser 5 are intentional duplicates.

Did you delete ~swap? If so, don't do that. It's necessary.

ahh well it may be old for you but I've just made the leap from 2.4k..

I've just checked it again. It may not be a blank line, it has the object name at the top as normal and then the next line says "is using.." There's no blank space where the name should be but there is a blank line between the first line of with the object name and the message (which is probably normal come to think of it).

You're right about waiting - I gave it 5 mins and it didn't appear. Interesting quirk :)

The sim that I live in is very well taken care of and I have never noticed any lag of any kind so far. There is just a couple of people that even live in this area so lag has never been a concern. I cecked to make sure and I have no duplicates other then the poser scripts. I also made sure that the ~swap script was still in place. I notice this problem of having to select the pose twice the most when I have a pose set up, lets say on the bed, then I select a pose that is across the room on the sofa for example.

That issue dates back to MLPV2.0. I think it's only a 1 or 2 minute timer. Thanks for reminding me about it, though; I'll take a peek next time I get a chance. I'd simply gotten used to it! I don't think there was any change in this regard since 2.4k. However, as I said, I haven't seen the missing name, so maybe it's a different but related issue.

OK, we'll discount lag as a possibility, thanks.

Just to be sure I'm understanding you, you're using the same MLPV2 for both bed and sofa? (Nice idea, btw. ;) )

I wonder if the distance is an issue. Thanks for pointing that out; it could be a very helpful tip. Here are some thoughts on that.

The max range for MLP balls is 10M from the MLP prim. That's the farthest they can be rezzed, so MLP whispers to them to communicate. Whisper is also limited to 10M range.

Maybe you're at the very edge of the range, and it's not being consistent? I'm not real hot on this hypothesis, but it's easy to check out. See if the balls are nearly 10M from the MLP prim. If so, try moving them in, or placing the MLP prim more centrally.

Another hypothesis -- maybe it takes the balls longer to move farther, and somehow that delay is messing things up.

If there are any other observations you can make on when it goofs up, please post. Let me know if it fails only between poses that are far apart, or only for poses that are far from the MLP prim, or just "more likely" as you said. (If it really is just more likely, then I'm really at a loss to figure out why nobody else is reporting this.)

Please mention anything else that's unusual about your setup, such as if you've changed any of the defaults in .MENUITEMS. Often the non-defaults aren't well tested, and that could be a factor here.

PS: please avoid the use of the word "select" in posts. Long story; and there's a sticky somewhere explaining it. Please use "pick" or "choose".

Possible bug in 2.4r
10-25-2009 02:24
I just set a bed up for the first time using MLP 2.4K. All was fine untill the chat info kept turning itself off after chatting the 1st pose. Re enabling it worked for the next pose but then it would disable again. This seemed to happen with the latest server release. So today I updated it to 2.4r. All seemed good...chat was back to normal....until I ran a sequence. The chat during the sequence ran as normal, but when I go back to normal poses after a sequence, the chat has disabled itself again. Re enabling it fixed the chat fine..again until a sequence was run. I tried the engine on 2 different full sims, same thing...and I tried it in both the latest Emerald & Sl Viewers. Again same result. Im new to MLP so I dont know if Im missing something silly. Any advice appreciated. Thanks all.

Kaffe,

What do you mean you "paid quite a bit of money for the full system with all components"? MLPv2 is free and opensource. Did you buy animations that came with the MLPv2 in it?

Also, if you want assistance learning how to set up the MLPv2 you can join the inworld group "MLPV2" (really wonderful helpful people) and you can also read the mlpv2 wiki here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/MLPV2_Tutorial.

Desi, as it turns out, kaffe bought a consumer product of mine, thinking it was full-perms for builders. It took quite a number of exchanges to work out that fact, especially since so many products that aren't mine show me as the creator (due to my earlier mistake of including MLPV2 in a full-perm box).
