You obviously do Ima, or you wouldn't be traipsing through the threads here. I think you'll find you are in the minority so I wouldn't go shooting your mouth off here or you are likely to get a great, fat, moist, fruity Christmas pud, with Devonshire cream on your face!

Oh yeah?

That point will one day come for LL, you can con most of the people some of the time, but you run out of suckers eventually.

What makes you think that people who decide to pay are "suckers". For most here this is recreation, entertainment. What this form of entertainment is worth depends on what the individual gets out of it.

It's also reasonable to expect the price of things to go up. There's been plenty of talk here about the various other platforms available, but most of them are very new and have a long way to go in content. SL is currently the highest quality product of this type available. You get what you pay for.

Exactly. For most of us, this is recreation money. Recreation time. We try to spread some costs around by having renters help pay for most of the tier. LL has now made it difficult to find folks willing to pay the extra cash so everyone else can enjoy the OS's that they are paying for. I don't mind paying 75$ a month so long as I get to have a little skybox on it. Heaven knows LL's demos of "proper use" were far more intense, primwise and scriptwise. But if I'm not allowed to have a hovel and the price goes up, LL can kiss me and my wallet goodbye.

They sold a product. They must refund the setup fees if they are dropping the product. That, or provide an alternate that is of equal or greater value. Anything else is a simple case of giving the customer something inferior to what they paid for and that's the very definition of Bait and Switch. And frankly, any company that doesn't comprehend this, won't be getting much of my cash. Period!

One of the nice things about viewing SL as recreation instead of business (or platform) is that I can easily increase or decrease funds going to it as I please. LL rips people off, I'm displeased, and the wallet closes. Very simple.

Maybe we'll be offered a new kind of bait for Christmas.

I'm still angry. But I've whined and stomped all I'm going to. I'll deal, I'll find a new home and place for my business eventually. Or not. But what I won't be doing is investing anymore money into SL. I either make it with my wares or I don't.

Very angry still...

I'm still VERY angry and will remain so for a long time. I have no faith in Linden Labs anymore - I'm just waiting for the next assault.

Yeah do something instead of criticizing what others do. It's easy to say that was bad, if you don't like it, what would you do instead??

Nothing I'll bet.
You asked for it. So . . . here's one way:

Example 1: How do you feel about recent OS sim policy changes? Do you:

-Strongly Agree with the changes?
-Agree with the changes?
-Don't care one way or another?
-Disagree with the changes?
-Strongly Disagree with the changes?

Example 2: How happy or unhappy are you with the recent OS sim policy changes?

-Very happy
-Somewhat happy
-Don't care one way or another
-Somewhat unhappy
-Very unhappy

The idea is to have an equal number of choices on the plus and minus side of the issue . . . plus a neutral or "don't give a hoot" option. In the first example, you'd be learning about the level of agreement people have with the policy which might be different from how happy they are with it. So it's important to choose the question form that gets you what you really want to learn about.

Also note that it's important not to bias the responses by indicating an opinion in the original survey question. (e.g., so the sarcastic "new" in the original statement above is biasing). Keep the questions neutral.

Now, if you or anyone else thinks that posting such a survey serves any real purpose but to keep the original frustrations running high, do feel free to post any one of the above on the forums.

The audience drawn to such a survey is likely to be terrifically biased in the first place--given current events--so the results would still not reflect how all SL'ers feel about this issue. For that you'd have to draw a random sample from all SL members (excluding alts), survey them, and hope you'll get responses from everyone.

Even so, the results of such an effort might be surprising (I'm going to guess that the majority won't give a hoot).

He's saying that they won't keep getting away with treating their customers like this. This is a really shoddy way to treat your customers, once bitten, twice shy. So then some new people arrive, but it happens again, they make another heinous move, and the cycle goes on but eventually there won't be enough new people coming in to replace the old people, the discontent will rise.

They simply can't do anything like this ever again.

Agreed to a degree, technology costs have generally come down. However it's certainly not reasonable to expect prices to go up by the amounts Linden Lab have imposed. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I am now!

First, i was furious!
I don't like to be mislead, so i abandoned my opensim too, so did many of us.

But, to be honest, i'm happy now.
I have more time for my friends and i keep my money in the bank.

Thanks, LL......for opening my eyes.

Now compare this..
12-05-2008 08:54
.. to Linden Lab's claim that 70% of those polled saying they were satisfied with the final resolution.

I'd say there's a disconnect here someplace.

Still relatively low cost entertainment for me. I like the new mid-range homestead land offering. I hope Linden Labs is paying reasonalbe attention to their market, and trust that they are. But even if they are overcharging me, it's diddly squit compared to what most people waste on cellphone calls and bad steaks every month.

I really hope you are kidding? So when your mobile phone bill comes in and it has more on it than you agreed, you just pay it and shrug saying 'oh well'? Or when that bad steak arrives in the restaurant you just leave it but pay the bill?

Of course they are not paying attention to their market!

Could also mean there are 44 mainland rental/sales barons who are over joyed that LL got rid of some competition for them. We have had several of them posting here, happy as can be that some customers might be driven back to them.

They'll change their tune when LL sell homesteads direct.

I think that the "land baron" is a myth. I own only one full sim. If I owned 10 or more, I would be locked in a padded cell, permanently, due to all the constant comings and goings of residents. Hmmmm, now come to think of it, maybe there really are land barons... it would explain a lot. LOL!

I voted "yes" because it begged me to vote that way. The sarcasm was too ticklish to pass up. And 45 other people feel the same way ^_^

I agree with whoever said you should just put "yes" or "no".

I also agree with whoever said those who are upset about the price change should just stop paying for it.

Good for you, whoever said you were happy because you were saving more money for RL activities now.

I can see why LL is charging more. If it's more expensive to run these servers then they could raise the price to make up for it. And they gave plenty of time for you to give up your land. I hope everyone who is upset about this increase has dropped their openspace area and saved their money. Eventually when the figures show that they need more people owning these lands, they'll drop the prices or add some other sort of incentive. It's just business. They aren't going to get your loyalty because your loyalty isn't reliable. As soon as the next big thing pops up, you'll go for it. You won't stick with LL through tough times. So why should they bother with pleasing you to the point of losing considerable amounts of money?

I'm sure plenty of people have brought this up already and got flamed, but here it is again. :D I won't be checking on your replies. I know what you'll say.
My reply: Prove me wrong. LL is looking out for LL. That's the way it's supposed to be. And you are supposed to be looking out for yourself.

Indeed, there's a reason why people don't reccomend biting the hand that feeds you though, and Linden Lab are very much guilty of that.
