Hi there,
I was just wondering if the issue I have is known to the creators or other residents...

For some reason a few sculptures don't load. Instead of seeing a lion as they should I keep seeing the balls they are made of. A few other people had a look and most of them do see what they are suppost to see but no matter what viewer I use they just don't load. The same with a tiger somewhere inworld.

Everything wlse is loaded so it's just those few things...

Hope somebody can help me out here.

Crashed the 1st time I logged in, then none, yah! Still seeing missing people, save for their prims.
Is anyone having a problem w/ losing attachments on logins, teleports?
Like hair, wearable prims, scripts, Huds?
It shows to my view I am wearing and using things,
but then some one will say I am missing prims or scripts don't work, even though the Hud or attachment is shown as worn and visible to me.
I have to replace something on the attachments' pts to take off the shown but not worn/running things. Then put back on whatever I had on, detach doesn't work.
It's getting boring, the last 2? versions, I'd say 3 versions, 2 RCs and one regular client download.

I can't even create anything that uses a prim that has an alpha with a script in it...IF I have Beacons Always On at the same time. The prim turns into a solid sheet of gray. As an ODE butterfly hunter... I have to have Beacons Always ON in order to follow the butterflies. I knew this was a known issue which is why I did not move to the latest RC..now that I was forced to.. I guess I'll have to go back to the last stable client.

Normally I like to use the latest RC just to help test...but this one is just really irritating and game stopping. For instance... if you do a touch prim to receive inventory it automatically opens your inventory window and you are stuck until you close it again. My streaker (the little line of dots when I edit something) no longer shows up. And if I open the advanced menu and talk in chat while it is open...it somehow checks 'debug consoles' and 'framed consoles'...which sends all the statistics jeberish to cover the whole of my monitor screen. It took me a good 5 minutes to figure out how to stop it...(

I guess I just don't understand how a client so buggy can be considered a Release Canidate? If I were to test something that full of bugs in our production environment...one that affects the end user so much...I would get fired in an instant.

I can only have faith that in the end LL knows what it's doing...until then I guess I'll just not particpate in the RC versions in the future.

Still crashing on PowerPC
09-12-2008 06:27
My PowerPC still crashes when the login page starts to display (for which I apply the same kludge I've been using for the last 1.5 years), and also when I press the Search button. <<Oh yes, and my console still fills with memory leak warnings whenever I start up the client.>>DELETE

You haven't fixed anything.

RC

PS: Sorry, the memory leak has been fixed. Still no luck with the startup or Search button crashes though.

First time I logged in on this viewer my flexi hair disappeared when I stood on a pose stand.
I also had troubles seeing peoples profiles, they simply did not show when I asked for them.
There is a coincidence between the RC2 viewer and the SIM 1.24.5 update. I have no idea if it is important, but it makes the the picture more unclear:)

Attachments disappearing when sitting and up close is http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8920 - a viewer thing.

For a couple of posts saying that 1.21 RC2 client "doesn't work" on PowerPC: that's not universally true, I haven't really seen it crash on PPC at all so far. People experiencing problems should really put this stuff into JIRA with detailed hardware information and crash logs, Lindens can't fix problems they don't see.

Tried RC2 last night and didn't crash at all! Yay!

I think I did see VWR-8735, though, which the release notes say got fixed in RC1.

From: VWR-8735
Sitting avatars displayed with wrong rotation

Anybody else see this with RC2?

I wonder if a "known issues" thread would be helpful with new viewers.. JIRA can be a real pain to search through and such a thread here would be a lot more convenient for people to see if something they're seeing has already been reported..

I put on a demo hair and all my clothes (and HUDs) came off right in the middle of a busy hair shop. Embarrassing.

You didn't do Replace Outfit, did you? I've done that by mistake instead of Wear many a time...

Scripts issues
09-12-2008 12:43
Hello,

With the RC1 and RC2 I had upload problems for pictures and some LSL scripts (not all) ending by a "The server is experiencing unexpected difficulties".
I don't know what's the problem, but it does not happen in the standard SL client.

Now some of these problematic scripts just cannot be edited.

Do you know if it's an issue in this release or if there's a known tunaround?

Thank you

Stone Juran

Ok, many new Releases…
with many Error-Corrections and new Features!
Great!

But when will be re-activated again the really nice feature to see friends in different color on the Minimap!
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3336

Will it ever return?
I mean the Status is 'Fix Pending'
(it was temporarily closed as resolved!)

It’s along time ago…

Thanks!

No this really is some kind of very unusual bug I`ve seen too, like four or five times in my 2-years SL. It seems to happen only by attaching hair, no matter if it`s real or in test version. I really think you see it just too seldom for it to be traced.

However this is not related to the new viewer. I started seeing that a long time ago, and from its frequency (at least for me) I`d say it was there before I even went here first.

Still suffering horrible FPS (5 and less) on a high-end laptop (Alienware), even in low-lag sims, I just crash for no apparent reason (Such as when typing this, the viewer crashes), and yeah, can't even stay in the viewer long enough to get to the memory errors, but I bet they're still there. I hope then next twelve RC's fix the rather inexcusable heavy lag issue, client-side.

MLP v2 and 1.21.2 loses your hair!
09-12-2008 14:06
using the miffy multipose script with version Second Life 1.21.2 (96080) Sep 9 2008 09:58:58 (Second Life Release Candidate) about every other pose causes the user to lose hair. I went back to the regular release version and no problem with losing hair. Running a mac osx with latest OS version PowerPC G5 tower with ATI Radeon X800xt video card.

Text Chat Color
09-12-2008 15:23
The text chat color can be adjusted or changed in Preferences to suit individual taste.

I too did not like the contrast of the new color so I left it orange but darkened it some so it could be more easily read.

I agree that the color change was not asked for, however, it's only a slight inconvenience. No biggie :)

Too much pausing
09-12-2008 19:50
None of the RC viewers have been usable by me on a Macbook Pro (recent). Way too much pausing. At least the Mac doesn't lock up, just SL sits there with nothing happening. The 1.20 release is much better at not pausing, though it still has problems when I zoom in on avs.

The pausing happens most often when I click on a UI element, like a chat dialog. Altogether, it seems to spend about 20% of its time pausing.

OS X 10.5.4, 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT w/512 MB VRAM.

What happened to the FLY button on the on screen movement controls.. it's gone! and can u put it back.. thinking it was harmless before! And i don't like the fly button inactive when u are sitting.. if you were caming while sitting. hitting fly brought you back to your avatar. Neither of the changes u made were hurting anything before.. so i have to ask why did ya mess with them?

Just as an aside for this. You can also hit shift + left (or right) arrow to bring the camera back to your avatar.

many problems with 1.21
09-13-2008 13:02
I had less problems with the 1.20 RC viewer. I keep crashing out, especially in Tombstone Arizona sim, about every half hour or 15 mins rate. And my crash rate was never so high as now, got a lot of lag also. Gestures are bugged, and colours of chattext didn't had to be changed it was allright, and now annoying. First I could go back to 1.20 but yesterday was prompted to 1.21. I think I better use the usual SL viewer then, this 1.21 is not really good playable, to much crashes and to much lag and bugs.

You can use the 1.20 main viewer, you don't have to use the 1.21 RC viewer at all.
