1.23 crashes...
04-30-2009 05:14
I have the same report from my virus killer and after the installation I can't login. The viewer crashes at the login screen. I have the SAME problem.....viewer crashes EVERY time I log in....however if I change the location to a non-mature sim it says the location is not available and kicks me to another PG sim, where I am able to get it... Then I TP back home (I live in a mature SIM).....exit...then try to log back in home...and viewer crashes again...and again......so clearly some work still needs to be done.... |

Dear Lindens,
1.22 was a really nice viwer, the most stable and quickest since 1.14 IMHO. And now THIS. Even the buttons of the 1.23 RC editor windows take five minutes to appear. Most textures appear after ten minutes (if ever), and if they do, they stay blurry. The nice blue sea only renders partially when i go up to 300 m (above the not rendering clouds). If THIS will be the final 1.23 release, i am outta here. |

I'm staying on 1.22 until 1.24 or later, since 1.23 will break the megaprim avatar hiding hack but won't have alpha skins yet.

Worst Rc Evar.
04-30-2009 08:30
this is...hands-down...the WORST version of the viewer i have -ever- used. it's so bad, i had to go and find a different version to use in its place. the new release candidate viewer screws up the appearance of skins, the camera is slow and jerky and the ability to alt+click to pan upward has been either reversed or removed, making it extremely difficult to pan up without using the manual camera controls...the "edit" for prims is now in the "more" category in the pie menu, which is just AWFUL placement for builders...it's like this viewer was designed by a n00b.
absolutely awful, and i'm usually a FAN of the new releases. but wow. just...terrible. |

![]() I hereby dub this the "childish" viewer. This looks like it's going to be another 1.19/1.20 disaster. The only good thing is that by making the 1.23 viewer so bad, they're going to stall out their "Adult Content" changes for months. _____________________

"mature search" doesn't work either. Typing "bdsm" in the all search gives "Some terms in your search query were excluded due to content restrictions as clarified in the Community Standards."

Yeah things i found right off the bat
1) Typing Search Query in all like ( sex, bdsm, xxx) all come up with nothing can be found due to rules blah blah blah 2) Why in the bloody hell would you change the pie menu when editing for the longest time now when you were say on a pose stand and you go to edit something on you edit is bottom right now you bury it 2 deep into the menu at the top of the pie chart and put edit appearance there what brain surgeon did that one ? |

Turned on shadows and the RC borked my graphics card (nVidia 8800 Ultra 76
![]() I uninstalled, went back to my old viewer and voice doesn't work and Group IMs don't work. ARRGGGHHH.....no more beta testing for me. And how come though I'm Age Verified I can't choose Adult content to show.. I vote that Lindens actually have to use their new viewers inworld before they release them. _____________________

get ready to buy new skins
04-30-2009 11:49
this preview release completely ruins my face. no sliders to adjust the problems, eyelashes in dayglow yellow. and I have a skin no longer available. this really pisses me off royally. forget the new release. these changes will really infuriate a lot of people.
Also seeing flashing problems looking through semi transparent windows, ugg. _____________________

I thought RC meant that is was a candidate almost ready for release, not that it was in a not even ready for alpha release...

I'm sorry I updated
04-30-2009 12:15
RC 1.23 seems to be loaded with bugs so this one is going in the trash.
I'm payment verified and can't show adult content in search. Alt-clicking on AV doesn't stick, it seems to want to zoom to the head or waste, so taking portrait pictures etc is a pain and they've completely scrambled the right click menus. And the still haven't brought the good bug fixes into the regular client, so now I'm back to fixing the clothing rendering bug manually every time I log in |

I thought RC meant that is was a candidate almost ready for release, not that it was in a not even ready for alpha release... Last year, around the time they redid the download page and tried to get everyone to stop saying "beta grid" and instead use "preview grid", there was suppose to be a new name for the RC viewers too. But somehow that last change never materialized. They never found a good slot to put this stuff once they could run beta viewers on the main grid. |

Yeah... I'm really not happy with this one. I haven't had any problems with the previous RC or windlight viewers during the 2 years of living in SL but this one... Wow... Just wow.
First of I had to change the desimal marker for this to even start. I don't understand why Lindens just didn't do a quick fix on that but anyway. I'm really not a big fan of the new pie menu. Why did they change the edit location and put appearance on that slot when editing something on your avatar. Then some detach buttons and others have been moved too, switching the pie menu from logical to utter... S word. Anyway, that was something I could live with, but then comes their new and "inventive" hide-the-avatar-if-it-doesn't-have-anything-on mechanism. Ok that is fun and everything, but it is so not good if you are taking pictures. Or atleast give a button for overriding that. |

You have forgot again about the DECIMAL SYMBOL parsing the xml configs.
*If your locale is set to use a comma "," as decimal separator (ie: Italian) then the client will crash loading the skeleton infos because it doesn't recognize the "x.xxxxx" as decimal values.* The client will start if you set "." as decimal separator (in windows control panel > Numbers > Decimal symbol: "." ![]() (the clients until now used a "hack" switching the decimal sign internally... prolly they forgot it out of this brach... damn!). _____________________

Bad RC....
First off, my eyelashes are crap, which is better than most of the people having ruined whole faces... Second off, half the time when I try to log off, it crashes me, forcing all the changes I might have made in my attachments or settings to be forgotten... Thirdly, I can't even find my own freaking store *anywhere* in the All Search (except for the classifieds, of course....), which means it doesn't exist to anyone using RC (well, this got solved... -takes out "sex beds" from her descript.....-) Fourthly, They seemed to have made some font changes to the Friends List and other items that make it look clunky and ugly and not consistent Fifthly, it seems they changed the "detach" when you try to detach, say a shoe or a piece of hair, forcing you to go through this maze of pie menu to take the stupid thing off (ok, i might be wrong on this one, but i remember trying to take off a shoe and being really annoyed...) SIGH.... Oh and OH YEAH, my AV thinks that the download file is a virus... GREAT!!! ![]() _____________________
