What specifically are you noticing that makes you think that more bandwidth is being used?

well i always have my DUMETER turned on and after this updates its consuming i wold say 4 times more then usualy does....not to say that things are extremely slow...i have a good computer with alot of memory on it and a good internet conection but still having those problems...wold be nice if u guys review that and ask around some other people about the bandwith problem....i know many others that have the same problem right now,and bad part is that alot of people have a bandwith % limit...i dont but if i wold with bandwith high like this i wont be surprise if i receive a call from cable company sayn that im using more then it should.

So, yes, it's technically possible although not trivial to have people teleported home, or to a random region, when the simulator goes down gracefully. (It's not going to be possible every time a simulator goes down, because a crash means that it's not going down gracefully, and while we have some last ditch stuff we do -- e.g. we try to save state in a crash -- the more of that you try to do, the less likely it is that any of it will succeed. Also, some "crashes" aren't even really simulator crashes, but the host dying, and there's nothing we can do in that case.)

We don't do this at the moment, but it's something to think about.

Thanks for the info, Prospero. At least it sounds like something remotely possible someday. :)

I went ahead & created a Jira entry for this feature to auto-teleport agents out of a sim before a region restarts instead of disconnecting them:
