How much further will favoritism at LL go?

I'm really pleased to see that Azure islands has the honor of being officially advertised in the LL login screen now. Maybe we stupid normals should just bow to this and return our islands to make room for more Linden-powered players? While I already expected favoritism in the selection for the so called land-expo, this is like a slap in the face to the rest of the landowners and seems to prove me right.
I am so disgusted, I can't phrase it right.

I sure won't ever rent from Azure Islands. I don't know if it's owned by a Linden alt or not, but the blatant favoritism combined with their overpriced offerings make me sick.

If favoritism is happening in this instance, then it is coming from the lab. The blame should be laid on the source, not the receiver. Adam Zaius probably is fic, not saying he isn't, but I have seen nothing to state that he mistreats his tenants. And he has done more then his fair share giving back to the community at large, ever heard of Opensim?

Agreed, I'm not sure why the estate in question is getting stick, LL have said they won't be the only estate to get such promotion and in July it will move to smaller estates. This is a Linden Lab decision, point your fingers in the correct direction.

fwiw i don't think this has anything to do with being 'in' with the Lindens and everything to do with LL's immediate short term motives in regards to land (and the best way to foist customer service off on a middleman rather than dealing with the increased load).

Any other estate owner could have been chosen for this experiment - it's just unfortunate Azure was the first.

So Siggy pulling an idiotic stunt for which he was called out on in SLU for, that is the reason that LL did this? The group against group infighting is the idiotic part. We form cliques, it is in our human nature that dates back to the time that it was necessary for human survival. I am part of a clique myself and this episode really has me thinking. Recently had someone come into Scripting Tips who was generally being a butthead. We pretty much well universally jumped him for it and in hindsight it was the wrong thing to do and not justifiable.

Sure, I blame LL. But Azure Islands deserves a share of the ire, too. I haven't heard of them telling LL, "hey, we didn't ask to be promoted like that, take us off." If they're willing to accept the exposure, they have to take the bad with the good.

LL has yet to learn that they are SERVICE PROVIDERS. As such, they should provide a service, not promote certain customers, not compete with other customers. Mainland competes with estates. Bay City and Nautilus compete with themed builds by Residents.

Above all, they should be CONSISTENT. Favoritism like the Showplace and the MOTD ads is INconsistent. Changes in policy like the Homestead seesaw and the Adult Content mess is INconsistent.

LL, you provide a service. People depend on that service, some of them for their livelihood. STOP WAFFLING, dammit.

Would you? I wouldn't. If you had a RL business and the Government offered you a tax break or other incentive, would you say "No Thanks"? LL is supposedly going to feature ALL Estates that total 250+ sims to start. I don't know how many that is, but are all of them going to be on your shit list as well?

This is evidently the beginning of a program that will include ALL Estates, regardless of size. LL chose the largest Estates first. These people pay a lot of money to LL in tier, so I don't see anything wrong with that. Premium Members are justifiably asking for more for their money, I see this as no different.

Granted LL is likely to screw this up as usual, but the hysteria and indignation this is causing is laughable. RL's entitlement mentality has firmly been entenched in SL, it seems.

Businesses do this all the time. Rewards and special treatment for your largest or most loyal customers. It's a no-brainer.

Reward is one thing. No one is arguing against a business giving it's VIP customers extra services. But LL runs a world with an economy in which their customers compete against each other. To promote one specific business above others, to actually manipulate the marketplace to such an extent, goes far beyond special treatment, it actually damages the core service they offer to all their customers.

For some of a particular mindset, "No Brainer" seems to be a way of life.

Anyway, you can pack up your torches and pitchforks from outside of Azure, now. Today Anshe is the lucky target.

They are not promoting one above another in this case.They set a criteria, and everyone who is in that group will be featured.
