From: Love Hastings That's a thought too. I suppose you just manually load your animation sets as circumstances require?
With the ZHAO, you just put in a separate notecard for each AO set you want to have available, then you can use the menu to switch between them. You choose the button for the set you want and it loads that set.

From: Victorria Paine I'm using a newish one called SEMotion. It's similar to the ZHAO, but a little less fussy perhaps, with a nice, clean menu driven interface, and three full sets of walk, stand and sit poses, which I can either set, randomize, set in a certain order, change the cycling time and so forth. A very nice gadget, and nice customer support too from Marie Sims. That's a ZHAO-II (I think Marie modified it a bit). I released that a while back, and anyone who hasn't upgraded from the old ZHAO, I'd recommend you try the new one. It's easier to use, more flexible, and causes less script load on the sim. Landmark in my in-world profile.

You choose the button for the set you want and it loads that set. Ilianexsi hit it right on the head. I have two sets at the moment, one I call (drumroll please?...) "Neko" and the other one "Humie". When I find a nice pose, I add the anim to my collar's contents and add the pose name onto a line in the appropriate settings notecard (either the "Neko" or the "Humie" . The AO in the collar uses the Franimation script (at least one based on it). I know that Amethyst had modified it a bit to better mesh with the collar's operation and also adding in a command to turn off the AO's sit override. The only cumbersome step is to know which command to issue to the collar's AO to switch animation sets. A quick read of the collar's notecard and knowing what my "prefix" and channel number are, and I can create a few gestures to manipulate it using a few very simple gestures. No AO commands spoken out on channel 0 either. For me, that's easy. -Bri

I rather like the stands from Happy Dispatch. At around L$30, they're a good way to crowd out the default poses while assembling the perfect set. They're as good as or better than many that cost three times as much. IMHO.

Thank you

Thank you for this thread!
(rant on)I was pulling my SL hair out looking for my first animations. I just wanted a nice walk and stand that didn't scream tramp! But everywhere I seemed to go were these overdone trampy/hippy walks, and stances that either push out your chest, or look like they were meant for a street corner. Is it just me, or are the majority of these things designed by men to feed their little fantasies (no offense meant guys...just sayin'...). I just want to look like a normal girl...not some guy's wet dream! (rant off)
Last night I went to the places mentioned on this thread, and finally settled on a Vista walk, and stance. I bought them separate because I am low on L$, and couldn't afford a complete package. But I'm very happy with the results.

A few years ago, I heard a quote by a comedian. It made a lot of sense to me. I cant find the exact quote or the comedians name, so if anyone knows it, so that I can give credit please tell me. The quote is this: From: wish I remembered Women dont dress and walk that way to attract men. They dress that way for other women. Lets face it Men arent all that picky. Just show up in any old thing and as long as your willing to play kissy feely with him after the date, he's happy.
No. Women dont walk around all sexy like that for men. Women do that so that when they walk by, every other woman in in the room is thinking, *BITCH ...*

I like the abraminations stuffs too, but I pulled them out and stuck them in a zhao cause I like the way it works better. I liked abraminations because they had some that were a little more casual and less sexy. That's for my other adult avie.
For me, I found a really good kids ao at tail of two kitties (search totk on slexchange) and they have some pretty good animations. 'Specially for someone you almost never hear about as having animations. (I did have to take out the walk which was kinda adult.) It's all stuck in a zhao clone. No idea how good the adult ones are. They're mostly specialty (emo, bitchy, superhero).
I think the best way is to learn how to use a zhao or zhao clone and then buy the aminations you want individually, but that gets a lot more costy.

female ao: Breeze by Johan Durant
09-11-2007 08:10
I'm really surprised no one has mentioned this one yet. A friend of mine uses it, and recommended it to me when I said I wanted a feminine AO set that was not sleazy, just graceful. It's L$750, and worth every penny, I think. I am planning on customizing it with a few other poses, once I figure out how!
Here's the text from SLExchange: "An animation override set for cool and casual women. Replace the default animations with these custom movements and poses.
If you're tired of exaggerated model poses and movements, then this AO is for you. The animations are designed to be naturally feminine, subtle and relaxed instead of over-the-top. Featuring master animator Johan Durant's renowned high-quality work.
The AO comes ready to wear. Walking, running, sitting, 5 different stands... 17 movements and poses in total!
Use the product as is, or transfer the animations to use in your own AO. Packaged with this product is ZHAO by Ziggy Puff, one of several great AO devices freely available.
Don't hesitate to contact me (Johan Durant, not Princess Ivory!) with questions or suggestions. Other stores may leave you frustrated, but I take pride in my excellent customer service, and I welcome messages from customers.
For other great animations, check out The Motion Merchant at Lake Gnoma! Gnoma [164,183,62]
Item Details Permissions : Modify, Transfer"
You can view it in world and his shop and try it out, if I remember correctly. He does very high quality work, and has some other nice things in his store.
I just picked up one of Ziggy Puff's ZhAO II units, but I haven't transfered the animations into it you.
I particularly like the walk. Graceful, direct, and not at al sleazy. Ditto for the other motions.

Please avoid the 'sideways sexy walk'. I cringe whenever I see someone walking at an angle. I would try the animation island sim. It has quite a few animation stores in it. My only pet peeve is that some of the animation vendors do not list the permissions and their animation vendors don't give you any ability to check the permissions. I've been trying to avoid no copy animations since LL ate my zhao once.

Reverie
09-11-2007 11:58
Not knowing anything about anything when I first arrived in SL but saw some very elegant women seeming to "glide" about instead of walking like a weeble (the standard SL walk), I asked around and was directed to the Reverie AO.
I have used it exclusively and LOVE it...it's now loaded into the ZHAO for easier access. The walk is very lovely and elegant as are the standing poses and flying landings.
I may look into a few other designer's features to add in now that I understand a bit more about it...but have absolutely loved my Reverie.

Oh, I know you're using a ZHAO-II. My suggestion to upgrade from ZHAO to ZHAO-II was for anyone else who's using the old ZHAO.

dorky bend over
09-28-2007 12:44
From: Apple Pinkney Vista Animations has an awesome one with 15 stand poses. Just be sure to follow the directions to change the bendover pose, which is dorky. Sometimes, appearing to adjust your stockings, can be very UNdorky, and adds an animation to a series of stands that is rarely seen in an AO. I have to admit that i thought about taking it out because the creator described it as a "panty tug" that sounded at first to me like i was about to get a wedgie, but it turns out, it's more of a gentle "my boot/stocking/garter/etc is slipping down my leg" and nothing to do with panties at all I also love the Reverie AO i have, my 5th Order is cool in combat, and the animal-specific ones i need in order to shapeshift.

I'm using the Urban Groove animations stuffed into a modified ZHAO II HUD, and it works well. The problem is that with the ZHAO II on, my Amethyst collar does not do poses correctly, since the Urban Groove animations override (at last partially) the poses. I suppose it's the same issue as with using dance balls. So, if I move these animations into my collar and adjust the settings notecard, will it all integrate properly? Thanks, Love.

From: Love Hastings So, if I move these animations into my collar and adjust the settings notecard, will it all integrate properly? Sorry, no. The ZHAO II doesn't have anything to do with it...it's the priority that's been assigned to the animations in it that's the problem...and only the maker of the animations can modify that. As long as the stand or sit pose in the AO has a higher priority than another animation (from a poseball, a piece of furniture, or your collar), the AO's animation will play. If that anim only activates, say, the lower limbs, then you'll get a sort of combination animation. This usually doesn't look at all pretty, although sometimes it can work. The usual solution is to turn off the AO when using other animations. In the case of a slave collar, though, this might be a little awkward. Master: "Turn off your AO, slave. I want you to kneel before me." Slave: "But don't you like my sexy stand pose, Master? I don't want to look like a noob." Master: "Turn the damn thing off now!" Slave: "uh...no." SynEmotions' animations are notorious for this...they're all set to override the "keyboarding hands" typing animation, and as a consequence they also defeat a lot of Gesture animations.

Indeed, and exactly the issue. I know the Cool Collar is smart enough to turn off the AO when a pose is selected. I am hoping that the modified Franimations script in the Amethyst also is. It would be nice to get rid of the ZHAO HUD too (as nice as it is!). Love.

Princess Ivory Yep, I got this last month, it's great. Not at all sleazy, and pretty natural. Nice standing and sitting anis, and the walk is pretty natural. Highly recommended especially at that price.

Hmmm, the listing on slexchange says, "Includes Franimation Override which is disabled automatically", so perhaps all will be well...
Love.
