I believe you already know the answer to this question.
Possibly, you do not understand the problem, and you are not asking the right question. LL does not care about sexual maturity or (insert country here) society's take on when said maturity occurs. It does however care about protecting itself from lawsuits. Can you blame them? If the state of the laws affecting LL's policy bother you, I recommend you speak to your elected officials.

Incidentally, love and respect for you Colette But my mother certainly would take issue with your contention that she was sexually exploited. She was engaged at 15, married at 16 (two months after turning 16), and quite happily raised me and my brother. By her testimony, she couldn't have been happier. She finished her education. She ran her own small business. She and my father were happily married all the years of her life. Most of our grandparents or great-grandparents would tell the same story.

I still think it's our late 20th century culture which keeps people in a state of prolonged emotional/intellectual immaturity... we only THINK we take that long to incubate.
