From what I've heard, though, the fashion industry would be pretty happy if they'd at least fix the I'm-smuggling-a-puppy-in-here system skirt mesh.

Why would a cat girl be smuggling puppies?

Obviously because of the sterotypist who think that kitties and puppies can't get along, and hate each other. Stupid sterotypists.

I talked to one of the Windlight developers at an RL panel discussion last week. He said that it's coming along well and they're hoping for a new public First Look soon, but did not give a timetable. A lot of the work is going into fixing the performance problems that many residents had with the original Windlight viewer; the original ran well on high-end hardware, but they're trying to increase the range of video hardware that will work with all the effects and without a performance penalty.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Maybe she is a Puppy Sympathizer, wishing to spare them from the horrors of the Totalitarian Feline Regime.

But I *like* that look! (Well, anyway, compared to every running AO I've tried, which tend to make me look like OJ in an old Hertz ad.)

Partly it depends on whether you are male or female. One reason that AOs sell so well to women is that the default walk and run animations for women are so AWFUL. The male ones aren't nearly as bad.

I'm glad you have 3 puppies, but did you have to mention the neutered one as being less than 1 full puppy?

I think it was Ruth.

My AO run is excessively girly, but it's the best one I've found so far. Sometimes I run just to make myself laugh. :D

The first time I saw something like that it was a naked woman.

I disagree. The pace is too fast, the head all over the place if you move the mouse at all. They make you look like some kind of ultra-nervous Benny Hill character. The one hand on hip and both hands on hips poses are a bit feminine too. :)

I found a "doll" one that makes your avatar run around hopping and giggling, and bouncing and . . .

I'm confused by your apparent ability to have visited SL in 1969.

I was also very confused when I saw that notice. So I put it in my sig. That's me, visited SL at 11pm in 1969. Also, the friend thing on the website says I have no friends :(

As far as the statement on the first page talking about crappy AVs...I don't think AVs are crappy...forget about Ruth...there are plenty of shapes and skins out there to purchase. And if you are truly interested in modeling and texturing, you can learn to create your own shape or skin.

I would disagree. The mesh itself is pretty poorly done. Of course, I get to see the worst of it, being a small avvie who knows dat "0" doesn't mean "nothing" all the time, but there's a lot of very difficult spots on the mesh. Hanging out with someone who designs a lot of clothing also colors my experience with the SL mesh, too.

FWIW, I would prefer they do upgrade the mesh, and allow for some sort of transitional period where both the "classic" and "new" meshes were available.

I certainly hope they scale it down enough. The last Windlight client gave me a pretty sky but killed my rippled water.

I know exactly what Mari is saying. Meshes need work badly. If your gonna have options at least make the options pleasing or coincide with what someone tries to accomplish.....

As far as windlight.... hmmm to me its tinkering with my desktop background. It's only something I see so what's the point? So much more can be done to make everyones SL a more pleasing place.... BTW I have a paint program hehe

Avatar meshes could be reworked, to a higher polygon count, and still use the exact same textures. However, reworking the joint parameters in any way that forced a re-rigging of the skeleton, would break every animation around, to some extent, if not completely, depending on just how altered the new skeleton became.

A lot of the odd bends, and self-clipping you see, can be avoided/overcome, by the animators themselves, however, 9 times out of 10 folks are running several animations all at once, that don't always work smoothly together. It's also a curse of 3d modeling that will almost always occur, unless you have some manner of reactive dynamic deformer, or joint controlled morphs built into the mesh.

The building/editing "my pretty cube" point at thing, can be turned off, I believe, though it may just be the tracers you can turn off, I forget, but I saw something somewhere in the debug panel along those line, I think.
