Good news! Bradley has genetically engineered a crab that won't run away. Look for it to be coming to his beach store sometime soon!

We'll see after you are through helping me with the beta testing Raymond. Hopefully I haven't screwed his genetics too much and you and Rosie will still be with us next week.

Alright .. it was me I think.

I became a bit confused and posted here rather than where I intended and was attacked by a pack of ravening poodles :)

Or maybe it wasn't me, I'm not really sure.....

You know, I really *was* attacked by a pack of poodles once...there were other little dogs in there too...this lady up the street from us had like 300 little doggies all the size of rats, and she'd take them for a walk every morning, but not until she saw me pass by her house on my way to kindergarten (the good old days when child could walk 3 blocks to school without fear of harm or injury). This one morning, I was late, and she figured I wasn't going to school so she started out with the mad terriers on leashes. They ambushed me, knocked me to the ground, and nipped at my extremities. I spent the next 30 minutes in the lady's house getting methiolate smeared on all my wounds...even the one on my hinie end. She called my mother and told her what happened, then sent me on to school.

Never have liked little yippy dogs since then :(

Also been bit in the face by a St. Bernard, but that's another story for another derailed thread.

I am thinking that if the poor OP hasn't already had a nervous breakdown by now, she will after reading the rest of this thread.

Meaning, the derailment has moved into insane territory.

Be nice to crabs. And poodles, too. Not all doggies are bad!

we've had a refit... i.e. destroyed the club and started again. And people are now saying its completely different to what they've seen before.

Taking the advice on getting out and about letting people know. My Group is now over 50 members and I now have staff. One dancer is 2 days old!!!

We are opening tonight with a neko goth night. Everyone is welcome and we'll be giving some freebies out that have been donated from some great designers .

Hi,
Thanks for the tips.

I am trying to avoid setting the very few camp spots I have to group only as I would rather newbies could camp without the hassle.

As for regular events, we aren't open yet due to the lack of a dj and of course people to come to an event.

The sponsorship idea is good though. I have friends with their own stores so I will get onto them and hopefully have some prizes to throw about lol.

If I may ask, how much pre-planning did you do before you opened? How much time did you spend laying the ground work before hand?

It seems the kiss of death from what I see for 90% of clubs in SL the owner thinks 2 or 3 days of casual telling people and then opening up will bring a flood of people in. That WILL NOT EVER happen.

I spent almost a month before we opened making contacts, posting announcmentments, hiring staff, finding DJs and handing out invites/talking to people about the grand opening in high traffic public areas. When we opened I had ~65 in our club group and opening night we had 25+ guests and a string of live DJs. With that start we are now starting to gel and getting repeat/regular guests.

Of course this is about my 8th online community I started so I have some expertise in getting such off the ground. (SL vs. other online platforms the concepts is the same just the technical aspects are different)

Here are my thoughts on your situation:

Since you are already open you can try to build up from what client base you have. This is going to be the hardest approach. Possible? Yes. The most work? Yes. Basiaclly do as I described above but also run the club as the same time. You, at this point are GOING to need staff to help you out. This should the the #1 item on your to do list. DJs, Host, Dancers in that order.

The other option which is still alot of work but less then above, is to close the club and start from square one on a PR/orginize level. Set a grand re-opening 3-6 weeks from now. EVERY day from this point on spend several hrs a day looking for staff, hiring DJs and find a manager or two to help you get PR out about said opening and assit with the hiring process.

Good luck!

Straus thankyou so much for your tips, I will take them on board.

We now have the staff we need as we are only running 3-4 events a week. Our opening was successful beyond all expectations. We ended up extending the event to 2 hours as people were waiting for space on the dancefloor it was so busy lol. We've had to add another 2 dance balls.

We had 52 visitors during the opening and boosted out club members to 70, although a few did leave the group.

Since then we have installed a counter and another 72 people crossed our door.
