Yup, that same 1 in 9 billion chance has happened to me, JoeTheCatboy Freelunch. Whenever I login, down goes the sim that I'm on. It's been like this for 5 or so hours, and currently I'm expecting the worst case scenario of losing my entire inventory (which is about 80% full of original, in process products and scripts (25,000 =( ) and 10,350 L$ obtained from selling). Anyways, I thought I'd just say that... Sky Eclipse was not alone.

I am merely a basic account user, but have been so for a year now, I don't want the lindens to pass me off as another noob needing tech support =(

Last time this happened to someone it was a corrupted Mystitool. Take off all your attachments and huds!!!!

I think we gonna see a major SL crash coming shortly. Lag is horrid and I stumble everywhere which is unfortunate for a Neko girl.

Wow, none of you have ANY helpful information WHATSOEVER. I don't care about what you think, I want to know WHY there has been an md5 collision between something I'm wearing (or me) and a new resident who registered.

Honestly, if my support ticket was deleted because I'm a basic account holder (and have been for nearly a year and a half) I might just up and leave.

I'm sorry, I read and re-read the original post and I didnt see ANYwhere where you asked about an md5 colision between something you were wearing (or you) and a new resident who registered. So how could any have ANY helpful information WHATSOEVER about it? Unless I missed another post somewhere....dang I hate being behind on the forums.

*Sigh* because the techies know why it happens, and this is the only thing that could be doing it.

Tell us Raymond, how does one remove their attachments when it is impossible to log in?

And yes this has happened before, it is most likely that what we're dealing with here is an asset collision between something you're wearing, and perhaps a newly registered user. There is no sim you can log in to, no client that will allow you to... the ONLY thing that can be done is to get linden attention to fix this issue.. per user it seems. And if the wait Sky had to go through is any indication.. it could be months.

mean while if you do care about your inventory for gosh sake don't keep trying to log in repeatedly do mayby once per update. use an alt meanwhile. make new stuff with the alt. if a login_able update happens then smile at your good fortune. (worse has happened to others.)

if you really can't use SL without the inventory of your main, is there a way you can buy from your main what you need? (it's not like that wouldn't zero out eventually)

other than that my heart goes out to anyone going through this kind of pain. hang in there Joe

Tell us Silicon, what's with the techier than though attitude? I didn't know he couldn't log in. I did know sky's issue was resolved and it was a corrupted mystitool. Get linden attention with a support ticket and can the rudeness.

Condolences. I have three suggestions, please excuse if you've done these already.

1. Sky's bug in Jira was VWR-2281. It is currently marked resolved/fixed internally, which means that the workaround to stop the regions from crashing when this happens has I guess not yet been rolled out. Re-open the bug and change the description very distinctively, right up top, to say the same thing is happening to you. Add a comment as well, with all the info - when it started happening, whether you were wearing a mystitool or other heavily scripted thing, etc.. It is a crash bug, they usually look at these.

If you don't know how to do that (Jira is a tricky UI) myself or any one of several other people can give you a hand.

2. PM Strife and draw hir attention to it. S/he isn't following the forums terribly closely these days.

3. IM Sky and ask her to IM the Lindens who worked with her to get her AV back, and tell them there's another one!

You might try logging into Crash Me too, so the Lindens have some additional info to peruse.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Crashed Crash Me with no effort

Yup, crashed it just by logging in. That was easy... =\ I reopened the JIRA bug by Sky Eclipse, standby for link.

I just crashed myself emptying my trash can. I've had this happen before. Each time it was caused by putting too much stuff in it. Not the same as crashing a whole sim but I'm pretty darned impressed that I could crash my viewer by cleaning 'house'. I need to stop accepting all the free crap you find laying around SL....

(This thread has some "semantic gaps" early on--perhaps a post was deleted--so, sorry if the following has already failed.) Perhaps try downloading the beta grid client (or pointing the existing RC client at Aditi), and see if by any lucky chance it's actually fixed there? Or, more likely, you'd be working with a pre-b0rked avatar, so you'd get to have Havoc 4 fun without crashing that grid (any more than it is already, under its own steam). ;)

I have the log that I'm attaching, from the BAD account (Joe). I still crash anything when I login, but if you want to talk to me on my alt, the name is Electricity Eel.

Wow! Next try Ahern :) And one of the Linden Village places if a Linden is actually hiding in plain sight there :)

*peers around* What?! I'm just evil like that!

Also, try dropping either Char or Cyn Linden a notecard with the issue. One's in charge of Linden Liaisons and the other is in charge of support.

Joe, I'm not sure why you keep bumping this. It seems fairly likely that only a Linden will be able to help you and they don't visit these boards.

Oh one more thot Joe: try it again after the rolling restart on Monday. It has to be a server-side 'fix', and it's been marked 'resolved but not closed' for quite a while, so it's POSSIBLE that a fix is in the update that will get fully rolled out on Monday. Not likely ... but possible.

Presumably the fix would make it so that sims won't crash when you login. No guarantees as to what your personal login experience would be tho ... if you get in, detach everything immediately and relog, I would think.

Until then *offers him a cookie* that's all we can do. You are in the hands of the Lindens.
