Yay Sally for talking about the Live Music scene! I've recently started attending live music sessions and they are awesome! I feel like a whole new section of SL has opened before my eyes.

Word of warning: it's addictive :o

off topic a bit, but have to say it.....I had the most awesome time last night..... the whole live music scene and the people in it are utterly amazing!

Ok, I'm kind of curious, and this may be a total newbie question. What exactly do people mean when they say live music in SL? Do they mean places are streaming RL live performances from somewhere or do they mean places where live DJs control what music is being played?

Hotly debated issue......... :o

I´d say both.
Live musicians perform live (or with a backing track if need be) in their own homes, studios, offices, garden sheds, and this is then streamed into the venue in SL.
Live DJs spin their tunes in their homes, studios, offices, garden sheds and this is then streamed into the venue in SL.
I have a strong preference for the former, but IMHO both are live music in SL :D

Just my 2c, IMHO and YMMV of course.....

Some guy came and bitched out a DJ I had hired because he didn't consider it "live music" and the event had been advertised in the Live Music category. I would tend to agree that so long as it's not a Jack in the Box style of stream, it's live.
