I appreciate a lot about the Forums; in the broadest way, I suppose, it's that here there are some remarkably talented, witty, and wise folks I'd have never just happened upon in-world.

More specifically, however, is the impact that such folks working in concert can achieve in shaping the Second Life experience. This ranges from spreading the word of "finds" in technical tricks, in-world events, builds, and products, to actually influencing what LL does.

The cynic in me cringes when I write that, but it's true. There's no way in hell that the adfarm mess would have been cleaned up, ever, if folks hadn't met here and formed a community of interest that made the problem clear to Lindens, and persisted (yes, for years, and persist still) in getting their grievances addressed.

It's just one success story, still unfolding. We have an opportunity and challenge to make more.

It's sometimes difficult to say anything positive concerning SL itself because, imo, LL is so bad at running it for their users, so I'll stick to people.

Qie is my #1 poster. I am always interested to read what he writes in threads that I'm interested in, because the posts are always interesting, usually in a more technical way.

There are some excellent people here in the forum who make the place very worthwhile. I won't list names for fear of someone temporarily slipping my mind, but there are many of them here, some of whom I've come to know is SL itself. I'm tempted to compare them with a few other people but, since this is a "positive" thread, I won't.

I'd like to thank those who can debate on any level (no matter how annoying I can be) without resorting to personal insults :)

This. This forum is highly entertaining and informative, rarely dull, it stays open on my screen at home alot and I check in constantly as I do my daily tasks.I could never use the ignore feature as everyone adds something to the experience, no matter what they say.

Right now my interest in SL is minimal and decreasing if things go the way I think they may, if it weren't for this forum, and slu, I would have never returned when I cancelled out last year. Thanks.

*I agree with Phil. Qie is one of me must reads, even on topics that don't particularly interest. His gentle dry wit, being frustrated while not being jaded, and ability to illuminate technical matters in a way that doesn't make my eyes glaze over is greatly appreciated.

The ridiculous rumor that he was a undercover Linden was espoused recently, but LL and SL would be in better shape if her actually were.

i want to thank second life firstly for my soul mate, who woulda thought : PPP

second, for the kids, i love them to death, and am so proud of them for who and what they are and how they bravely stand up for what they believe in.

i want to thank sl for the music, cuz i love the music and because it was thru the music that neal and i met and became rl.

i want to thank sl for my island, cuz it is SO much a retreat for me, not only from rl but from all the weirdness of sl, i love sl but i truley *need* a place of peace, serenity and solitude.

i want to thank style jackson for the best house we have lived in (so far) in SL.

i want to thank everyone who has the talent and patience to design and make all the wonderful content in SL, wow.

and lastly, i want to thank neal, for who he is and what he has made sl, and now rl mean to me.

(from my first step into sl in 2003, i saw an amazing potential for this world, and have never been disappointed in it)

:D :D

If it weren't for this forum, I don't think I would have lasted past Week One in SL.
(Well, maybe I would have, but it would have been much more tedious)

Oh yeah, and then there's Max.... ;)

Yes. Mickey...as ive done before when i feel the ick spreading on the forums i try to inject some positive vibes into the mix...LOL oops...call me crazy...hehe

I love the posts here! There is so much good in SL and these forums and its great for me to read about how these have touched all of you. I should also mention that I have met lifelong RL friends in SL and made some amazing connections with really wonderful people. Ive learned so much about how other people, cultures, nationalities think and feel all while sitting in my chair at home...who knew such a thing was possible! For me, SL has opened up communications and connections that simply amaze me and for that I am very grateful.

Ok keep these good vibes coming! :)

I'd like to add my congratulations to all those possessed of remote telepathic capabilities, with the ability to discern why things are said, and who and what people are about in the forums, and their intentions, without taking much notice of the words and how they are said.

Pep (Perhaps it's just the old dragons who are able to do it? :p )

Apparently. :)

Humans tend to be incredibly shallow and superficial creatures at times. Given to being judgmental and capricious for the most inane of reasons.

It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to look past the words, to reach out on a more subconscious level, and find ways of understanding and tolerating what would seem to be intolerable.

It's one reason why my ignore list remains empty to this day.

*shrug* Maybe it is a gift. Maybe it is part of being who and what I am. ..or just maybe I have learned to do something simple that anyone can do, if one cares enough to try in the first place.

Maybe I should thank those in the forums who are so delusional that they make my own ravings look mundane.

I'd like to thank the Forumites in general; I've learned so much here that I would never have learned inworld, I've made true friends here, and I've laughed and cried with many of you.

We all have different personalities, and that's what makes SL great: the humanity. It would be a vast hollow shell if it weren't for the hundreds of thousands of people who've joined it, contributed to it, and loved it for a part of themselves.

Thanks for providing the tool, Jojo.....quite refreshing to see that some can jump into the Ickiness, no matter how well disquised, then pluck out the genuine positives and direct that encouragement and positiveness toward those who are deserving.....thanks for the opportunity to send Cheers in their direction :)

Veracity? That has no place in these forums.

Thanks to Lindal who met with me in-world, I thought that was gracious.

Thanks to the OP who began this thread (I had toyed with the idea of starting a "random acts of kindness" thread in the past but figured it wasn't a Q & A) some sunlight is needed.

Thanks to all in the forums for their presence, their posts, their replies and questions and humor. I don't care if people agree with me or disagree so long as they follow Queensbury rules...
