Where's my katnip? That's question number one.

Question number two: What is your latest joyful discovery in SL? What, recently, has given you pause to squee with delight, jump up and down, put a smile on your face or give you a glow of happiness?

Is it a place, an item, a new friend?

Let's make this a happy joyful thread! Which means no one will post to it. heee.

Giant Snail Races! They had been around since years and I never heard about it. At the SL5B I found out.... Oh my, what an experience to be a 40m tall cute snail! Racing is fun and actually not so easy if you are new to it. TP to the sim Montmartre and snail up!!!

The owner of the tiny store where I have some avs gave me a dandelion that you can blow on and the seeds fly away. It's probably an old item, but I found it delightful. :)

Hoppers!

The hippity hop ball things you sit on an bounce around on. They had a wicked awesome one at Sine Wave, and it resized to fit me jes fine. Totally totally fun stuff.

My husband and I found the perfect little castle home--gothic (yes, it has flying buttresses) but not entirely textured in black, nicely scripted doors and windows, lighting effects, hidden ...ah... fruit cellar, all sorts of nifty stuff. Made by Alex Bader, whose work I cannot recommend highly enough.

We both have the same "huge happy sigh" on walking through the doors, and I think it's amazing to have found something that closely maps to what we'd -both- been imagining, without us having to build it. Can't beat luck like that. ^^

A slight challenge with the landscaping, though, since the castle lives atop the mountain, one side's almost a sheer drop off and the other two sides are occupied by waterfalls... so the question of "how to get guests up there" has come up a time or two.

I'm thinkin' a catapult, myself.

The Kids5B sims, and I hear that at least part of that may be permanent.

The Red Rocks, Luskwood, Toxian City, and Tiny exhibits at SL5B all have me interested to go explore those areas when I get some time.

Place: Greenies Lawn Rezzable. Yes, Lawn. Not home. It's new!

Item: The Hoppers from Sin Wave. I've been so so all about them for the last 24 hours.

Person: All the kids who made Kids5B, an all the 'dults who took a turn in the transmogrifier an learned a bit about us kids in the process. Also Teagan, for the quick cleanup last night.

Event: Last night's fireworks, an how everyone took the griefer attack an the sim troubles in stride. The griefer attack was treated like a light rain instead of the panic one notmally expects.

Great thread! It's been awhile since I've gone out exploring, but I want to check out some of the things mentioned here. The snail races sound fun.

And Mari...the bouncing balls are a blast! Try it on a steep sloped hill with no debris in the way!

Edit: Well not too steep, wouldn't want anyone getting hurt!

my latest joyful discovery is that I have an ability to build a 2000 prim animated steampunk type carousel and loving every minute of putting it together.

The AvPainter program just pleased enough to buy it.

Unlike trying to paint on the templates in a 2D paint program, which I find to be somewhat torturous, painting in 3D right on the mesh with a very simple set of tools was actually fun. I made something from scratch and I'm wearing it. It's symmetrical!

It motivates me to investigate more full featured 3D paint programs.

Item - Lindal showed my a little cartoon Fokker triplane. You guys know I have a real weakness for aircraft. This thing is ridiculous. It's about half the size of my smallest plane, has a horrid flight script that barely works, and the texturing is questionable, but I love it anyway. It makes me laugh.

Place: the Museum of Robots. Love it.

People. I haven't really met anyone new in a while. I hang out with all you guys, but I don't think any of you qualify as "new" discoveries.

Events - I'm really starting to get into live music, even music I wouldn't normally listen to.

I just stumbled across the plants at INOJIES Flower Garden on the Life Is Good sim. Beautiful stuff, and she has clover!

Hmph, and no mention of Trout Jr. :p

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

He might have been a joyful discovery, but he's not "latest".

BTW - thank you for the dancing frog - he made my day! I don't think he's "latest" either, though. I didn't list the Oui Coupe, which is one of my most favorite things ever, for the same reason. I thought this thread was for recently discovered stuff.

Eternal Sea Park, designed by Alir Flow. It's not on a huge scale but a great place to take some pics. Try the floaty animation in the center of the moon.

Raimondo, just of the beach in the north.

btw. The whales name is Shelonda.

Lately my alt has been discovering all the cool stuff. (Hey, what's up with that, Mr. Real Life Geek Overlord, sir? I'm the main, am I not? )

He has recently bought a beautiful Shire horse, the most realistic equine in all SL I believe, from Miss Virrginia Tombola. Since the Shire can speak, he gave it a name and with the help of these forums put the name in floating text that exactly matches the color of our own floating names.

On his mount, he has been exploring the sim called Eldamar, a recreation of some of the more peaceful places in the Middle Earth books. You'll find it just amazingly beautiful even if you're sick to death of LOTR. He recently discovered there are at least three other surrounging sims continuing the theme, and promptly rented some space to hang out and as a way of supporting the great work that went into it.

Me? I found a nice tweed jacket . . .

Happened a few months ago, but am still rather happy about it. Found some PG clubs that are rather popular, and the people there are awesome! Now to get around to the Forum Cartel hangout....someday.

i have not bought any toys for myself in quite some time and bought a delightfull steampunk submarine from SLexchange over the weekend, i tryed to take it through the rivers at lusk to no avail as there not deep enough but worked perfectly from the docks at home, something small and amusing :D

My Antiquity grandfather clock. It's such a beautifully crafted creation with moving clockworks and a great sculpted look that I loved so much, I ended up joining the RP group and now I have endless Industrial Revolution outfits that I look great in! Yay!!! :D

I just passed the trainee stage of becoming an instructor in SL last week!! I am now a Level 1 Faculty Member of the school with which I am affiliated and can schedule my own classes!

(Trust me, as an instructor, that is a big deal :) Now working toward Level 2!)

~ ~ ~

Last week I purchased plot number 3 (contiguous to my other 2 plots) and will be relocating our sky home (which is currently on rental land) to the new owned land.

The best event for me is meeting a certain friend. There is a definite but intangible buzz between us, which keeps us both in stitches of laughter. There is no need for any romantic depth, as may seem the next step, as we are both comfortable just helping each other out and sharing time together. A real friendship, the stuff some of us hope for, which makes everything else in SL seem to have more clarity.
