most of her work is edits into other people's posts from what i've seen.

LOL something the moderators almost NEVER did in the past.

What kinds of things is she editing out?

No Payment Info on File.

Have any of you Alty types tried to get in here yet to see if it's true?

I accidentally discovered this yesterday. While checking my alt's transaction history, I clicked the forums and here I was. Didn't post though. Don't intend to. My alt is only for building undisturbed and my main MoxZ can pose any questions that it might need to ask or answer. ;)

The last edit I saw was removing chat logs. I don't remember the thread title offhand.

That isn't such a bad thing. If she is policing the place in a sane and sensible, consistent manner, I don't care if she ever posts.

Well, I'm no payment info on file and it seems I can post just fine. The only reason I'm NPF, is because while I put in payment info.. I never used it and the status has never changed on my in world profile.

So, unless that's borked, *shrugs* I guess the flood gates are open again.

No, it's just borked. I have an alt with payment info on file, but it doesn't say so inworld. You are technically PIOF.

I think this is a really good thing - this is Resident Answers after all. Despite all the fun and goofing off, we give out a lot of answers, and the people who need help the most and are least likely to be able to find it in-world are the new residents, many of whom do not have payment info on file. I hesitated to put my payment info on file when I started because I was so confused that I didn't think I was going to continue with the game. I almost quit before I even got to a point where I could access these forums.

I'm glad I didn't. But I'm also glad that new folks will have a chance to come in here for a little help with the SL learning curve before they get frustrated and leave. This is a good thing for resident retention.

Hmmm interesting. Did they announce it on the blog? Haven't had much time for reading lately.

I would have thought it would be wiser to allow any resident to read the forums, and only paid-info-on-file to post, but if LL wants to moderate strictly enough to police the place, more power to them.

I just hope all the banned folks have found better things to do in the intervening year or so than harass fellow forumites.

Certainly changing the policy will mean a bit more noise, but it will also allow people who will make good contributions to the forums who are presently "NPF".
Do you ever read the blog comments? Those are hardly a shining beacon of politeness and civility and are what the forums will become if everyone can just post without consequence.

And while I do agree that everyone should have a chance for support and help, I also know that the most abusive people I ever got on Live Help usually turned out to be NPIOF. Paid accounts who'd lost half their inventory were more polite than NPIOFs who were verbally abusive because a camping chair didn't pay out L$1.

Without any moderation (and even with) it doesn't take all that many persistant griefers to ruin something for everyone. Forum rules will apply unevenly as well because anyone who doesn't want to stick to the PG rating, abide by non-disclosure, posting unfounded complaints about so and so, etc only needs to create a new alt whenever it gets banned.

The flood gates spawned griefer after griefer in-world, this will be no different. Anyone who is serious about contributing (in whatever sense, even if it's to join in the neverending thread) can put payment info on file and be accountable for what they write/do.

I agree totally. I always thought it was a bit strange that as a new resident I couldn't search through the forums for answers to any questions I had. I only entered payment details just so I could read the forums. And then it just confused me when in-world I still showed as NPF.

As I am NPF in-world I have now removed my payment info and will re-enter them when I decide I actually want to spend some money.

Let's hope this opening of the forums to us NPIOFs is a horrible mistake that will soon be rectified. Otherwise, I think your worst case scenario described above may come true.

I also wonder if the opening of the flood gates will put the final nail in the forum coffin and serve as an excuse to do away with it altogether. I started to wonder if we were headed that way when the resmods went away. Hmmm.

Puppet Army rules! ;)
