I'm really glad to see that you got one from Ace's - I have one of his at home. I was going to build one but it was just too nice and so low prim ... fabby!

Houses That Jack Built have some nice things, also Ars Vivendi.

I haven't bought any prefabs in long while but the artist, forgot her name that owns Bliss Gardens makes some really beautiful homes....wish I could remember her name. I noticed a lot of beautiful homes when I was doing haunted house decor for Inc. I think his wife does textures and builds.

I have done a half-timbered house that's a bit like British country pub, with a shop section built on the end - it's 30m x 10m and 83 prims. The walls are specially made textures I derived from snapshots I took in-world of originals I made up from prims, but with a bit of a workover in photoshop to add transparent windows, a bit of irregularity and shading under the eaves.

There is also a smaller 20m x 10m version without the shop bit on the end.

Check out Barnesworth Anubus. I have one of his houses on my beach...it's called The Mullholland....and looks great in the ocean setting. The house even has a small built-in pool on the front deck. It was a bit too small and Barnsworth was kind enough to come over and help me add on an addition too.

I have a great house from Brennan Design. I have owned one of Coco's homes, lovely. I know people who own Ace's work and it is well done as well.

I have the Cozy Hideaway and I live on a mountain sim, but any of Cozy Homes Prefabs can fit in just about anywhere. Their designs are really nice and well put together IMHO. :)

I have one from ABC Homes. Mine's pretty basic - teleport between floors, locking doors and window dimmers but its clean and has lots of windows. Sensing I was pretty much a noob at the time, they came out and set it up for me and walked me through the door commands.

I had a few homes on the beach and always put Vision Homes, they are awesome looking and not sure what size land you have but if you have a 4096 or larger you would love a Vision Home, go take a look and you will be amazed at the quality of work put into these homes.

There's a place called "Vision" something LOL I'll double check mine...I loved their houses and just bought mine. I also second Ace's Spaces....they are fantastic and very reasonably priced!

Vision Homebuilders by Trouble McTeague? Got one of her homes - it's awesome!!

We bought our home at the Serenity Falls sim. Beautiful stone house, lots of detail. I can't remember the name right now. I also like October Rust homes.

I get a kick out of walking through peoples prefabs. Dunno why, I just do, so i'll check out some of the ones mentioned here.

Can't remember the name of the lady who makes them off hand, but there's a place called Prefab Alley that has really really nice homes with great textures and design.

Edit : It's AE Industries. Found the name from the blog that was posted here.

Yes Thank you. I got major brain lag.
I saw this house of hers recently it was just lovely. It even had wind vane on top.
Before I created this account I would look and look for Julia Hathor's creations online just drool.
I wish I could build like her.
She got lot images up of her pre-fabs at slexchange.com

For lovely Japanese/Asian style homes (not "Tiki";) - I highly recommend House of Effulgent. Homes in every size from one room to 3 stories. Very reasonable prices, easy to rez, etc.

The sim is also a lovely place for a walk as well :)

I cannot express how impressive Cozy Homes by Paige Raven are....very well done realistic sizes for second life. None of that over the top insanely large houses where no one uses the space and it takes 5 minutes to make it to the other side. I also recommend Barnesworth as others have mentioned. :)

I wounder why almost all prefabs are no modifiy.... it's ridiculous to buy an house and not be able to change anything... In RL you buy an house and have the option to change almost everything lolol

I was seeing some prefabs and some of them I would like to had diferent textures or close a wall, why should I must use more prims to add a second floor/wall if I could edit the ones that were in the house?

ADD: And what about those prefabs that we see in slexchange that state that are for 512sqm but have 140p ?? lolololol

Thank you for this thread.

Went looking for a one for apiece of beach that I might rent. I have a question why when I click on info it doesnt tell me what size of land it is suggested for. It just gives me a measurement? How do I know it will fit on the beach?

Thank you,

Bec

Sizes are quoted in two different ways: The area, or the dimensions. If it is the former, then you have to do a little estimating. Of course your plot has to be a larger area than the build, but you also need to estimate if the dimensions will fit. For example, a 1024m2 square building may not fit on a 1536m2 plot if that plot does not itself include a 1024m2 square area. Usually the dimensions are stated with a prefab, and with these you can work out easily if the building will fit on your plot.

First make sure you can see your plot boundaries by clicking 'View' at the top of the screen, then checking 'Property Lines'. You can find the dimensions in several ways.

- I find the easiest and most accurate way is to use the land edit tool. Right-click your land and select 'Edit Terrain', and then left click on the land. You will find you have a yellow square selection box, and this box is 16m2 in area, so you know the dimensions of that box are of course 4m x 4m. So, you can click drag a selection up the side of your plot and count how many of these squares it takes to select the whole length, and multiply by 4m to get your dimension.

- You can instead use your avatar's coordinates in the sim. At the top of your screen you will see three numbers, these are the cartesian coordinates of your avatar: x, y, z. z is your 'height', and so you only need concern yourself with the other numbers. Just stand in each corner and make a note of the coordinates in each of those corner. Then subtracting the numbers from each other, you can caculate the lengths of the sides of your plots. This is of course less accurate, but it does the job.

- You could place some prims down of known length to 'measure' the sides of your plot.

I think the first method is easiest, but the other two may be the preferred choice for others.

And remember that in addition to plot/building size, you also need to consider your prim allowance. Not only do you need to be sure you have enough prim allowance for the build, you need to make allowances for any furniture, etc that you wish to add.

We put a land size explanation board thing at our place, but it's still a subject of confusion. We do have land sizes in mind when we build, but when someone says they have 1024- will it fit? It depends on the shape of the land, and only knowing that can answer the question. Prim counts are also a factor, for sure.

For the comment further up on most prefabs being no-mod, I think most prefabs are copy/mod personally.
