This is just for interest or even amusement. It's not imprtant in any way. There's someone who owns a piece of land in the sim that I'm in. She wants to rent it or sell it, so I emailed her, as suggested, and said that I'm interested in buying it. I got a reply quite quickly to the following effect:- From: someone In short, I'm not interested in selling to big businesses, especially not ones that turn Seymour from a nice place to wander around on the ground level into a barren wasteland just so they can have more prims for their low prim store with high prices. The only way I'll sell to you is as an extremely last resort. If I need to, I'll contact you. That's how she summed it up. We are talking about rock here She has a few items placed on it (a few pink trees, a gazebo, a Tardis, a pond, all spread wide apart on the rock, but nothing that anyone would want to actually visit. It's rock and a few pink tress doesn't change that. In fact some of my parts of the sim are much better for visiting - grass, trees, campfires, seating with animations, but she has rock that she doesn't want turned into a barren wasteland Anyway, I found very odd, and possibly mildly interesting. And before anyone thinks to mention it, no! She didn't even mention bots

From: Jojogirl Bailey wow! i would have thanked you for moving your build to the sky and leaving the land as it is. LOL Me too! I honestly don't understand her thinking. Apparently I've bought land from her before. I don't remember, so maybe she used a different av. She wants what she paid for land - she doesn't want to lose money. But land prices are down, and I don't insist on paying less than the current rates at the time. In fact the last piece I bought in the sim (apart from an ex ad-farmer bit), the deal was done at current rates, I had possession of the land (a 1024), and then I gave the person an extra 1000L because she'd lost money it, as we all do these days when we've had a piece for quite a while. The person that wants to sell now wants the land to be for the community. She wants something community-minded on it. According to her, the way I use land there "doesn't promote a sense of community or give back to the people." Like creators don't give back to the people. Like SL should be devoid of shops!!!! I think she must be a guy lol.

Wow, most of the stuff in your store is 50L or 100L.
Too expensive? I do not get it.

From: Tex Nasworthy Did she call you "hon"? I've always believed that, and more often than not in the end it is true (so far in SL).

It's just part of the wierder side of SL, like the rez-and-run Premium members who buy a plot of land, scatter a few random freebies they've obtained onto it and then disappear, never to be seen again, leaving their messy land for people to admire in perpetuity! The 'Be who you like' aspect of SL is usually seen in relation to avatar appearance, but it's equally true of an avatar's mental state. If they decide to be totally illogical and off-the-wall, that's OK as long as it's not harming anyone or against TOS

From: Tex Nasworthy Did she call you "hon"? Nope. But then, she had no time for me from the start, so s/he wouldn't have been likely to call me that - and it's been only in emails

The one I mentioned who I gave an extra 1000L to after buying the land knows this person, and told me that she's a strange one. Another odd thing is that she said she needs the money to pay her bills, and she turns down a buyer, but I guess the bills aren't due yet.

You could always wait until she abandons, and then see if you can pick up the plot for 1L/sqm from Linden Lab.

It's too big for that price but ty for the suggestion.
I don't need the land. It's just habit buying land that's for sale in the sim. I have thousands of unused prims there.

I was able to get a plot that was over 2k in size.... it was an exception, but I surrounded the plot on all 4 sides, or just about all 4. Is it a really big lot?

That's very good. 512 is the normal maximum. This piece is 4k and an odd shape. I have some sides of it but not all. I wouldn't get it at 1L.

Well, I really can't respond to a thread from a capitalist who is ruining SL for all the rest of us. However when I'll need a question answered about starting my own store I'll let you know.
