What do you look for??

I have been slowly building up a collection of accessories I have built in sl.... mainly fort my own use and that of my friends, but I have been starting to think a little about selling them.

I guess my question to you is what do you look for in accessories (clthing accessories) in sl?? What is missing in sl??

I started it because i wanted to indivdualise my liook... so much off the clothes in sl look so similar to everything else... it was my way of standing out a little

Kitty thigh-items that aren't too big >.<

I got the 'tuna can and opener and such' thigh holster(Holster? I guess...) and when trying to resize it, it couldn't be made small enough to be snug without being so far up my thigh that it's hitting my skirt (Not something I want with short skirts..)
---------
Also, more (sub) collars. I see plenty of amethyst leather collars, amethyst elegant, etc, they are lovely, and can change colours but, really I'd like to see some more unique collars, more variety. I spend a lot of my time on the green at the University of Submission, greeting visitors and whatnot, and I really only see maybe 3 varieties of collar at all aside from the Uni collar.
---------
Hmmm.... a flexy-chain would be cool, but I know it's really really hard to do well.

Today is the last day for the store Last Call - everything is marked to 100L.
I am pretty sure I bought almost everything in that store when this sale first started. The good news on that is that by the time I finally get it all sorted in inventory, I won't be dealing with everyone in SL still wearing all of it - they will all have moved on to some other 'latest fashion craze'. :D

There is a great store named Sheer for stockings. Don't ask me how I know this.
I would much rather just make up the answer in my head anyway.
:p

NOW she tells me...after I spent a fortune there in three or four visits this month.

Aw, just mix it up with your other stuff. I personally rarely wear outfits (except dresses) as sold.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

It's not what you wear. It's HOW you wear it. Just like in RL. Accesorize!

QFT. All my pantsuit outfits look sooo much more wicked with my Heather Thorn Custom .45 strapped to my hip.

Lately I've become a real Lara Croft wannabe.

Sometimes even with moddable items a prim gets too small to be resized any smaller. When that happens, the rest of the items can't be scaled any smaller. If you're confident at editing you might be able to check the object a prim at a time to find the offending prim and set it larger, then scale the whole thing down further. This is often possible without destroying the look of the object.

NB: Copy the original first, if possible!
---------
I was considering making some unscripted collars in different designs (jewellery-style, heavy-duty, sci-fi, weird science, steampunk) that a buyer could drop a third-party script into (you can buy Amethyst scripts without the collar, maybe others too?). I'll play about with the idea some more.
---------
You're right about flexi chains - you can only anchor one end, and the other ends up dangling through your body, or floating about unrealistically.

I like "odd" and "different" sure- but I find that mixing and matching can change the entire look. I practically live at Falln and they have awesome stuff- the jewelry is odd and will do wonders for the different look I strive for.

Sometimes I combine really radical fashions -like from the Goth stuff with say some classy looking gown from Falln where I can leave some pieces off... Guess the point is, it's how you put the look together that defines what you are saying-

Yeah definitely possible to do it like that.. but it's still annoying =P I understand the size minimum limit, but I wish it were smaller >.<

I absolutely adore collars... I do like my current one, but there are so many things it could be better with. The main problem i have with unscripted is they have to be mod to put in the scripts.

If I carry a sidearm, it's a hammerless revolver. A triditional girl gun but but it fits easily in my pocket, no hammer to snag when drawn and being a double action revolver it will never, ever jam.

Sometimes, just saying "no" is not enough.

Mostly I carry either an old Remington pump 12 gauge or a 30-30 Winchester. But then I'm not looking for trouble, I'm looking for food.

have you tried wearing a male shape? might be easier for you to change to a male shape for a second just while you edit the mens stuff then change back....just make sure you save your original shape first lol.

I did debate that, but it is often best to try something on a few shapes... I have found with hats esp it is hit and miss as to how well they fit certain avies cos head shapes can be so differemt. That and I have no idea what guys really like and them trying it on and giving their opinion would be really useful for me in that respect too

ahh, ok in that case, do you belong to a small group or something which wouldn't mind you sending out a notice? maybe you could send one out saying you need opinions on it and drop the item on those interested in helping? Kinda like asking for volunteers?

If they are happy to take a bandana and try it on for me then great :) iff not thats ok too... but i thought i would ask anyway

good point. when creating accessories, make sure no prim in the set is smaller than 0.015 or so in any direction, so customers can resize down. you can start by building small then scaling up before selling, but when i build jewelry or accessories i like to have it on myself while building so that might not be practical. or just test by shrinking it and hunting for the elusive 0.010 prim (and save your customers from having to do this).

the question of mod vs. no mod because of possible content theft can be answered with another question: no mod is better for the seller's protection but mod is better for customers; are you in business to be protected or to make sales to legitimate customers?

You do now.

I will be on later today (4:00PM SLT) but would like to see what you have. If you want different male shapes, we can get Joseph to try it on as well. It would look cute on a panther :)

Oh, yes! I want a pic of Yosef and Joseph in matching bandannas! ;)

[EDIT] Other clothing optional.

when you guys speak of panty hose you mean the full thing right? not just the stocking that goes to the thigh

wouldn't panty hose need to be made using both the stocking and the underwear layer?
(or pants layer if done right)

maybe that is why there are not a lot of folks selling panty hose, that being said I shoudl give it a try LOL

I made stockings that go up to the thigh, pantyhose should not be much harder.... I could even add a panty to them, so with and without panty, so one can wear them on the underwear layer with panties hehe

hmm, I so need inspiration

(ty czari for the nice words)

ty brenda, so they do exist hehe

still I will give it a try

If I did not make stuff just because another store has it, I would not be making anything except my piercings and eventually others will be making those as well. So far though I have not been able to find the piercings done the way I do them (which so far is a good thing LOL)
