From: Trout Recreant /me settles back into his chair and thinks for a bit.
Well, the problem with the Nazis is, fundamentally, their pitching. You certainly don't look for the bullpen to be up to speed at this point in Spring training, but you at least need to be showing a little better depth. They've got a couple of fast-ballers, but those guys blow out after seven innings, and then what have you got? No bullpen. Plus, no starters who can toss knuckleballs and curves to give the bullpen a break. It's not a good situation. Defensively, their infield is good and they have decent outfielders, but I'd like to see a little more speed at second base and shortstop.
Their bats are great, though. I expect to see a lot of action, especially when they play other teams with weak pitching, like the Socialists and the Marxists. Should be high scoring games. Look for the Nazis to play just under .500 ball this season. They usually over-extended their defence as well. Coach was too busy lying in bed all day being effeminite in lederhosen and generally they were just sloppy. GODWIN!!!

From: Cherry Czervik Re the assertation that people confuse "clique" with posters who know each other, I think this is rubbish and self-delusional. This Forum conforms to the way ALL Forums work - which is on the basis that if someone is disliked they are either ignored or, occaisionally, picked on.
And no I do not mean I am picked on. I think you all know I am far more than capable of handling myself.
A clique is a little group who are seen as the pack leaders in essence. Again, I speak for things other have said to me. In Cherry World, there's just whatever I am doing at that time. Like it or lump it is a good Yorkshire saying, and also not from Yorkshire but equally good is "Mute is your friend".
I haven't met enough people in world whom I get good vibes from here (and this is my fault for being so busy most of the time). I have met people I'd rather not have .. they are not on my social agenda. Shrugs.
Also, to take up the point made to Rhoarth. I've always found her extremely personable and helpful in world or not. If anything, I find her slightly innocent, bless her cottons.
All a matter of perception. What shocked me was the discovery that I was seen as one OF the clique, when I am fairly sure most of them wouldn't pee on me if I was on fire - unless they pee petrol (in which case they have worse things to worry about that little old me). None of my comments were directed to any ONE certain person, but more along the lines of " here we go again with this discussion of cliques " I would never intentionally harm another person physically or emotionally and as I mentioned, there isn't a single person here that I dislike in any form, opinions that I might disagree with, but I don't hold differences of opinions against anyone on a level that would make me dislike them. In regards to the clique conversation, I'm just expressing my view of wonder on why do we consistently end up back in this discussion where people feel the need to defend or accuse someone of some social standing, is this highschool? Um..no, I think we're all grown up enough to be secure about who we are and who are friends are that labels are thing of the past. Oh and Cherry, I've always liked you enough that I would definitely pee on you if you were on fire! (given that I had a hose to aid in my aim)

I like you, so I'd pee all over you if you caught on fire. In fact, the next time I see you, I might pee on you as a preventative measure, just in case. How's that? See how much I care about you and your irrational fear of bursting into flames? I wouldn't pee on just anyone.

From: Cherry Czervik ... But if we analyse what you are saying there. -"If you are not with us then you're excluded" is the logical conclusion ... /me sobs. Wrong, wrong, wrong. That is, if you are saying "We will exclude you", which is how I read what you just said. My whole point is that this group does NOT exclude anyone. They can choose to exclude themselves...that's their choice.

From: Love Hastings I'm a fundamentally shy person, and I managed to do it. Not saying that that means everyone should, but I do think the bar is pretty low. Especially considering how friendly and forgiving *most* of the people here seem to be. More than once somebody has shown up, made a complete ass of themselves, and then was later accepted regardless. Well, maybe just the once... /me raises hand memememe, I always make an ass out of myself, and so far, I have not been kicked to the curb

I don't think there is a "clique" in the forums, at least not in the way it's meant when it's said in these threads. I do think that many of the people spend time together inworld, and they know each other better than the one's who don't spend that time together. It only makes sense, really.
I think that I've been seen, before, as being part of a "mob mentality", just because I agreed with a majority of posters, who are part of that close group. I don't think anyone, though, was agreeing or disagreeing just to feel "in". We're all grownups with our own minds and own opinions, sometimes those just tend to be similar.
I don't get to the hangout very often, I think I've only been there a grand total of two times, tbh. My time inworld is limited, and I have a lot I want to do when I do get a chance. Unfortunately, socializing isn't one of the things I get to spend a lot of time on inworld.
As for these forums, I don't see differences of opinion as reasons to dislike anyone. There are a few here who I DO think I would dislike if I met them either inworld or even in RL and who they are might surprise some of you. But it's not because of any difference of opinion, just that I'm sure our personalities would clash, even if we actually agree on certain subject. I'm sure these same people probably wouldn't like me, either, for the exact same reason.
I don't think anyone should feel "left out" of the forums. If your opinion differs, be proud that you stand firm on what you believe. I didn't have any trouble jumping right into RA, in fact I'm pretty restrained on here. I'm very much a chatter box in RL, probably to the point of driving some people insane with my babbling.

Well I am not shy in SL unless it's about someone I really really care about. I guess for me the day I personally stopped caring what anyone thought was the day I no longer had to care about someone who clearly DIDN'T give a two hoots about me and so I no longer had to worry about what I did/said having any adverse effect on them. I am still sensitive to not upsetting that person, tho why eludes me as they've got me on iggy anyway. Shrugs. For others it's not so simple, I repeat my mantra "mute is your friend".

Yeah Stormy don't worry it was much more likely aimed at me. Your quote of my statement was at the beginning of your post. From: Colette Meiji I think a lot of people confuse "Clique" with posters who are familiar with each other.

It's funny, but you know what I personally enjoy the most about the hangout? The fact that I can go there and NOT talk if I do not wish to. At times, just being among others while I IM or sort my inventory is comforting to me. I like the fact that people won't hold it against me if I'm being quiet. I'll throw in a comment or two when I want, but no one has ever made me feel that I HAD to be a chatterbox, and (well I hope!) no one has taken it to mean I didn't like them when I was in my own little bubble. I'm homeless, so I really appreciate having a place to pop in before signing off for the night. Thank you so much for making this place available to this hopeless drifter...

My favorite pies are sweet potato, pumpkin, key lime and anything with peanut butter in it Am I allowed to agree with this post without being a member of the clique? I promise, in RL, I loved tollhouse cookies, pumpkin pie and anything with peanut butter in it WAY before I even knew SL existed (actually, I loved that stuff before the home PC really existed), so I'm not just agreeing with Czari to be a sycophant. Can I have a cookie now? And can we all just drop this clique nonsense and just hangout and have fun together?

Wrong, wrong, wrong. That is, if you are saying "We will exclude you", which is how I read what you just said.
My whole point is that this group does NOT exclude anyone. They can choose to exclude themselves...that's their choice. Well you can't exclude ME cos you love me That's not really what I meant. Maybe people don't want to be included into "one thing" anyway. Maybe they do. It just looks very different if you already are in that thing (which I accept that I am). TBH, the people who adore to turn everything into their own personal crusade/issue aside, I can't imagine that there's anyone here I'd strongly object to. Some of my friendships have begun from some of my more impassioned lines of argumentation after all. But I guess this is like SL in microcosm in some ways - like there will be people who take to it like a duck to water and ones who just can't settle in ...
