From: Trout Recreant It seems to me that SL is better in acceptance of homosexuality than RL Not just gays, but there seems to be better acceptance of all people in general on SL. My hope is that as the internet makes our world smaller that we will see that impact transcend itself throughout the world. [/QUOTE] From: Trout Recreant Therefore it falls under my rule of "live and let live". People talk a lot about tolerance, and it's a start, but it's not enough. Our long range goal should be to embrace the differences in each other. From: Trout Recreant Besides, I don't want gay people hating me because I'm straight.
Hate is a strong word, but I'll put up with you and your kind for now.

Agreed - it's one of the things I like about SL - nobody is the same, and there is a lot less societal pressure to blend in. SL attracts interesting people. Agreed on embracing the differences, but I'm glad you're tolerating me for now. I guess I was just saying that I want people to do whatever makes them happy and to me, the fact that it's something different than what I do makes them interesting. They have different life experiences and different perspectives all of which enrich mine. I don't know if that's embracing them or not, but I certainly don't believe in judging someone because they are different than me.

SL seems more open to homosexuality than the wind bitten hills of northern West Yorkshire, but that isn't saying much at all There are certainly plenty of gay guys in SL, I've talked to a lot through my business. Maybe it's just easier to see in SL, when you have profile information or group titles on display.

This is a bit OT, but hey, this is Resident Answers, isn't it? When I was still single, I was looking for a new apartment, and a friend-in-law let me know that her friends had a place to rent. They're a gay couple that have been together longer than all of my hetero friends. My Dad is ultra-conservative, and I didn't let him know about my new landlords ... but he asked ... "Are they gay?" I said, "Yes Dad, they are." and just waited for the rant. He let out a big sigh and said, "Oh, good!" Guess he liked the idea of his daughter having a couple of men in the house that he didn't have to "worry" about!

From: Jethro Stubbs I like swing music, fat fendered Fords, Tattoo's, diners and P-51 Mustangs.
Does that mean I'm stuck in the '40's? I certainly hope so!

I found (and landmarked) Primouth Motors the other day. He does a really, really good job on his cars. I also like his gas station. He can expect me as a customer for both very, very soon.

I have the 1931 Cheetah, the 1931 Phantom, the 1938 X07 (pictured above), 1951 Torpedo, and the 1963 Mantaray from Primouth (oh, and the free Primouth Hotrod). Also have the Dominus Shadow. The M.H. Motors Galla52 (and a bunch of others). I also have a riding mower, and a good deal more. This is the free Primouth Hotrod:

From: Jig Chippewa I am curious. I wonder if SL is regarded as a friendly and accepting environment to Gays. This is a serious question. I have far MORE gay friends in my real life than I know here - and often there is a kinda "nudge nudge wink wink" attitude to the gay community here which is so out of date in the real world. Comments please. Although I'm not gay in RL or SL, I find it refreshing that some gay/lesbian people in SL tell you that they are right in their Profiles. They state the fact casually, as if it's not a big deal--and it's not. You are who you are, is the way I see it, and that's fine by me. Not one of my dozens of SL friends has ever spoken anything negative about gays. Avanti
