From: Lear Cale You're wrong.
There is one definition of "acronym" that says it must pronounceable.
There is another common definition of "acronym" that does not require this.
So, it is an acronym, according to a common definition of the term. You're wrong in saying it's wrong. You're ignorant of the common definitions and usages of this term. You're WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
Besides, that, you're just ... wrong!
Admittedly, I'm wrong more often than you are, but I'll do the happy dance anyway.
Update your dictionary! Oh dear, weren't you around when we went through this last time? From: Oxford English Dictionary acronym
/akrnim/
• noun a word formed from the initial letters of other words (e.g. laser, Aids).
— ORIGIN from Greek akron ‘end, tip’ + onoma ‘name’.
It's not a question of it being pronounceable or not. It is a question of whether it forms a "word". We can argue (as Talarus and Argent and Love and so on did (mainly from stubornness) in a long and very boring thread that any collection of letters is a word, but I dispute that. And the sequence of letters that Ephraim gave was "not" a word as far as I am concerned. But if you want to believe a definition from, say, a dictionary that believes "unfriend" is *the* word of the year, then please feel free to do so. Pep (I'm not going to repeat myself about this, so feel free to dispute at leisure.)
