hi everyone. i have a problem i need advice on. a few days ago a guy approached me and offered me a job in his new club..a strip club. i took it and worked a couple of days. when i went in today, he pretty much told me that as long as i worked there, i had to sleep with him. he said that is what he was paying me for. i told him that i was there to dance and not be a prostitute. so then he ejects me from the club and bans me. i could care less about that..but this dirtbag owes me money. is there anything i can do? is this harassment against the rules in sl? thanks in advance for any help.

It is one of the big six rules of community standards:

Harassment
Given the myriad capabilities of Second Life, harassment can take many forms. Communicating or behaving in a manner which is offensively coarse, intimidating or threatening, constitutes unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors, or is otherwise likely to cause annoyance or alarm is Harassment.

http://secondlife.com/corporate/cs.php

The Lindens will not get involved in your money dispute. That is resident to resident. You could however have a ARable case based on the community standards. If that will be handled or not is anyone's guess when it comes to the Lindens in charge of that.

Good luck.

Being a dirtbag is not against the rules, no.

You are well shut of this guy. Forget it and move on. Don't even worry about the money he "owes" you...most clubs don't pay their dancers at all, and many charge them a percentage of tips.

Think of the money he didn't pay you as being for the personal services you didn't provide.

I'd have to see the chat logs to offer an opinon on whether you're a victim of "harrassment" as defined by the Community Standards. However, from what you've said, I don't really think so.

Cut your losses and go. The more you hang around asking for money, the more power you give him.

SL is an adult grid. It is good to think of the other girls, but they are all presumably adults. They can handle themselves. All they have to do is mute and or log off.

You got your money. If you feel you were harased and have the chat logs to back it you can try the AR.

Personaly, I would walk away.

I'm all for business deals being open and fair. If he advertised sleeping with him as part of the job description before you took the job then it's all good. However, shifting the goal posts (that's a "soccer" term, for you Americans) like this is just damned unsporting.

We'd probably say 'moving the goal posts', but the metaphor is equally applicable to American football, Canadian football, Australian football, British football (which we call soccer), ice hockey, and probably many other sports.

Aside from ozzie rules football though, none of those are proper sports for proper men. Really this is a topic for the "ignore this and let it die" thread though. Actually, scratch that - we've already done this one about 50 pages back.

*sigh*. The sex worker trade is rife with scoundrels, even in SL, it seems.
I can give you one tip that may improve your experience: Look for a club that's owned by a woman. Not an absolute guarantee...there are plenty of good male club owners, I'm sure, and probably some backstabbing women club owners. I just think the odds are a little more on your side.

It's by far the best way to 'get lindens", as I keep telling all my newbies hot on making their fortunes. :D

When you're done shopping, check out The Forum Cartel group in-world for a nice bunch of people to hang with.

hehe good way to get lindens

should have told the guy, let me ask my husband first if I should sleep with you or not, he might wanna meet you first LOL

(then again the guy might think you mean a 3some eeks LOL)

if you get bored and want to try something other than shopping, feel free to drop by the arcade (just look in my picks in world or sig file here)

I moved it a little but still easy to find, just go out by the fishing pond

not sure how much longer I will be keeping the arcade, sadly it doesn't get as many folks as I thought it might and it is taking up precious prims :(

same with the fishing spot....

both were intended to be spots for people who dislike spending a lot of money, but do like to have fun... I guess my idea of fun is not quite the same as others'

I can recommend a good club if anyone is interested. It's run by a female acquaintence of mine (I know she is definitely female and definitely trustworthy). I hesitate to mention it here in public, as I'm not trying to plug the business, just help out the OP. I can't guarantee they are hiring though. She runs the club just for fun, and as far as I know runs it at a loss (and doesn't mind either). PM me here on the boards (I can't get in world) if you are interested and I will let you know the name of the club.

You should have agreed to have sex with him - presuming that he didn't actually want to hop on some sleeping animation(?) balls.

But then tell him that you want to be totally open with him and that you are a guy in RL. Is he OK with texting dirty with another guy?

He's still have booted and banned you, but you would have had a giggle :)

Better to tell him you're a guy after you've cybered.

Um, forget him and move on. For some people SL = zero accountability and he's just an idiot. But.....the cruel reality is that for every girl that leaves his club, offended by his expectations...there's 6 more that are more thna happy to cyber with him for kicks. I've seen it everywhere......it's silly....but it's just pixels and to be honest...if it had been me....I would have done it...hopped on an animation with the bozo and gone outside (RL) and had a ciragette or something...maybe played solitaire...whatever. :p Oh yeah....and then for shits & giggles I might have thrown in the "hey, by the way, I'm a guy" just to burn his ass. I'm not a guy....lol but that's a greeeeeeat idea for handling wingnuts like that.

You should feel sorry for the pathetic little prick. He can't even get laid with his lack of personality and has to force that kind of thing on you...sad

it happens a lot to dancers and managers and so on..you are in the sexual industry and even though it is virtual some play it to the letter..some move up for agreeing and some just fall to the side for agreeing..
it's gonna happen from time to time..but there are a lot of great clubs to work for that leave a dancer with more options than the club owners..so their threats fall short of doing any damage..they lose good dancers playing those silly games..
there are just too many clubs out there hiring to worry about a person trying to use you..you'll find a club that fits your nitch..just turn those people away..it's all you can do really..

I'd say AR AND move on with your SL life. You got your money and maybe you learned something and you don't really need LL to take any action.

But I've no doubt that he does this to a lot of women. I imagine that if LL gets a string of ARs from different people about this guy they may take action eventually. It only takes a minute or two. Look at the help drop down menu and you'll find Abuse Report about halfway down. There is a form to fill out and then its done. You'll get a meaningless email a week or so later saying the AR has been processed.

If you ever decide to try dancing again, and you are interested still in exotic dancing, take a look at Hurricane. For all the strip clubs my partner DJs for its the most upscale and least sleazy I have encountered, in fact it's not at all. The owner is a great woman, and she lets me dance with my partner while she works to boot!

Well for someone that agrres to work on a strip club I think it shouldn't be expecting to pray and chantings, right?? If i go to a strip club I don't expect that the dancers are nuns or monks in disguise... If someone runs for a job on a place like that it must expect some sexual moves otherwise it should be wise to chose another kind of club lololol you accepted the job probably because you need lindens and you don't want to buy them at Lindex if so you have to submit yourself to that underground world lolol
