Nope...either Google is your Friend......or maybe being a target of a prominent Copybotter and then getting into a lengthy conversation with him.......you learn what makes these guys tick! Along the way one picks up eye-popping information!

Edit - There was much more to this conversation, some of his personal stuff....like why being a good guy at first, he then flipped over to the Darkside. It was quite illuminating and LL was partly to blame for his conversion..

...as what I have found is it doesn't hurt LL as much as it does the Content Creators in SL. All that talent...then such flawed logic as to where to vent your anger. Don't you think?

Right now its an open game between Linden Lab's manpower (which "seems" to be limited, but its still effective) and the Opensource world which is good and also bad, unlimited and even more effective - it seems. I think its entertaining :D

I can't go into his personal story...but yes he made a living before being a Creator....then something happened.....a series of events, which turned him into a Copybotter.

During our conversations i did forward this suggestion..

Rene Erlanger: "i've seen that new viwer you tested"
Rene Erlanger: "which no ones knows about"
XXXX : "btw, as ive said many times before, in public, and written on my blog, which i now had to move... I know ways LL could keep 80% of the banned avatrs out of SL"
XXXX : "HXO"
XXXX : "i'm on it right now"
Rene Erlanger: "yeah that's the one"
XXXX : "its the newest techology as far as copybotting goes these days"
Rene Erlanger: "so what of the future of SL?"
Rene Erlanger: "i have suggested they should employ 1 or 2 hackers...to help them patch up their system"
XXXX : "about the future of SL?"
XXXX : "yes, hireing white hats would help them alot"
Rene Erlanger: "as you know they are usually the best.....even Banks employ them"
XXXX : "yes i know"
XXXX : "as far as copybotting goes, i dont think it will ever effect SL that much"
Rene Erlanger: "its so widespread"
Rene Erlanger: "creators are leaving already"
XXXX : "since 07 when copybot was created (by lindenlab) the numbers of people and money in SL has just grown extreamly"
XXXX : "and Copybot doesnt effect their business that much..."
XXXX : " people who copybot wouldnt have bought your creation anyways..."
XXXX : "now if they publicly share it, thats a whole other thing"
XXXX : "but"
XXXX : "when a thing is massivly distributed, it gets reported very fast"

XXXX : " SL is no place for a business, unless your doing it for fun"
XXXX : "its too vonurable"

XXXX : "i get caught every week"
XXXX : "i come back with my entire inventory, every week"
XXXX : "all that changes is my name"
Rene Erlanger: the trick of loading prim boxes
Rene Erlanger: and giving to friend to hold?
XXXX : "i use to do that"
XXXX : "but this viewer allowes me to simply import an entire outfit in 1 click
XXXX : "with shape, clothes, attatchments, and all"
XXXX : "waay too easy really"
XXXX : "as i said, i know ways LL could make it alot harder"
XXXX : " but they dont"
XXXX : "for some reason"
XXXX : "they've claimed their gonna stop copybotting for years"
XXXX : "nothing was ever done"
Rene Erlanger: "maybe they don't have good technicians?"
XXXX : "people have presented ways to them"
XXXX : "simple ways"
XXXX : "just a simple programmer could fix alot"

You do realise Scripts can be ripped now?

XXXX : "btw, funny fact, scripts has been copyable for months"
XXXX : "LL doesnt have a clue, because theres a tool which forges the creators name to the real one, and keeps all the objects contents"
XXXX : "pretty much untraceable"

Rene Erlanger: "how many copybotters do you think are out there?"
Rene Erlanger: "100's ?"
XXXX : "probably about 200 - 300"
Rene Erlanger: "most use it for themselves ?"
XXXX : "but, people as experianced as me, that can do scripts, and keep real creators name..."
XXXX : "i think we're like 12"

Rene Erlanger: "what people don't know...some of the worst are Germans"

.

Hi Rene :) Well, here on this forum we had this conversation about "secret viewers" some month ago and some guy told us the same about scripts, so your copy-pasted conversation here where "x" = "x" does not really make my eyes pop out. Mister "x" does have a website and a well-visited YouTube site where you don't have to read a single world but can watch things in real time - some are faked, some not.

Just name and blame the Germans may works for some - not for all. Making videos showing black guys copybotting things while dancing to Rap music may works for some - but also not for all. ;D

No, but the ones that use copybot and then establish a Shop in-world and try to sell out of it, including paying for relatively expensive classified adverts seem to be mostly German. Normally copybotters reselling stolen wares tend to stay lower profile than that....a small spot in a obscure Mall...that type of thing.

It's not a personal dig at Germans....i was born in Hamburg after all ;)
