Besides GEMINI, when I was in the sim Insilico, I swear I saw one not on that picture. But very nice, I haven't seen half of the ones on there!

I've seen the Emerald client tag, immediately got annoyed by it, and turned the feature off. (=_=)
Client tagging looks like just another "Cool kids club" divatude fature that accomplishes a whole bunch of nothing. In fact, it's lead to drama more than once for people I know. (=_=) I like nice-to-know things as much as the next person, but, when does nice-to-know become an obsession to the point of costing friendships? Of course... Emerald will automatically notify you of when you get unfriended too. (>_<  _____________________

it has uses with compatibility... sadly, too many people don't use it that way. (it's not about being cool, it's about possibilities) If this has anything to do with encrypted IMs, bleagh! Until I decide to commit online federal crimes via SL, I couldn't care less who reads my IMs. (^_^)y _____________________

no it's more about extra features (although that would be one example)...
for instance, emerald has access to RLV features (thought they need to be turned on), and support for some functions that LL hasn't finished in the viewer yet (like llTextBox).... it can also be used by venue owners to quickly rule out who might have a broken AO spamming messages on the debug channel (Emerald has one built it, so it's not likely to be that person) If a person needs help with features specific to that viewer, they can ask another person using it. granted it's mostly useful to the people that know what the specific viewer can do. _____________________

Do you have to have special options set to see those? I've never seen a single one on that picture, except Emerald of course... and some of them seem like pranks or something.

It started out as a way for one special magic client to one-up the others, became a way to detect which people have special magic clients, and now indeed pretty much resembles a cool kids club. I don't even think it would suit the purpose of compatibility at all. If there were 50 more viewer variations, some of them would not make the list. It would've been a little cooler if the first few bytes were a magic number and the rest of the UUID could be a char array where people could specify the name of the software and even the version. But even then, it wouldn't be much help for scripters where it could make a difference. I think it will stay just another way to one-up each other.
About "Day Oh proxy," it's kind of a misnomer... Sometimes people ask me "can I get your proxy?" But it's GridProxy, which I didn't write at all, combined with my version of the clothing protection plugin, which was coin.dll. Nobody would want it anymore, the PAR plugins are better. _____________________
