I'm addicted to 7 Seas fishing. Also I love sailing, although my graphics card is rather feeble and I can't get my draw distance up high enough to enjoy that properly.

There are tons of places you can fish, and there's good sailing on the mainland, especially the two oldest continents (the western ones on the map).

Tough call......it kind of evolves with the different things I discover.....and with what I learn to do creatively...

But if I had to pick one thing that I just absolutely love to do (and sadly, cannot realistically afford to do all the time)... it would be landscaping and putting together themed areas. I haven't done tons of it....but I've owned land if different places and changed the terrain and style of home/building......once I built my own waterfall turned a part of my beach into a little cove.....

Right now I have a homestead sim that came pre-designed, in that it was already a sort of rugged island....with a high flat bluff and a smaller island off one side. I had a blast setting up my galleries and turning it into a representation of the island I grew up vacationing on as a kid. If I could afford it....I would have a handful of regions with different themes.....a swampy southern bayou.... a rugged desolate desert..... a quaint mediterrenean seaside village....There's soooo much I would love to do.... :p But I haven't won the lottery yet.

Well, I have mini golf, eight-ball pool (in the old mansion), 7 seas fishing, sailing (free choice of water vehicle) and flying out on to many Lindens seas (have to bring your own flying contraption atm) available for free use at my sim Watchman.
I am probably going to be adding a shooting range soon too.

We are also a sim from which you can sail/sub/swim/snorkel to explore the lost sunken city ruins and do the Linden treasure hunt.

The Mainland has lots of hidden treasures and offbeat fun to be had just by wandering. To give the wandering an excuse for direction it can be amusing to drive a freebie vehicle around the roads (or pre-road paths), or just fly along them, stopping here and there to let stuff rez.

It's worth checking in at one of the NCI locations for a copy of Carl Metropolitan's maps of the Mainland; they show some of the highlights especially of the two oldest continents, Sansara and the Heterocera Atoll. (Minor quibble with Lewis on this: there are actually three continents in the western cluster. The two northern of these are the oldest. Anyway, that will all make more sense looking at one of those aforementioned maps.)

Speaking of maps and roads and Mainland, another source is the wiki, specifically all the roads that have been mapped, at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Department_of_Public_Works_Roads, and some scenic stops and hangouts: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Parks_and_Recreation_Directory.

Explore - explore - explore!

My latest passion is Dinosaurs Park, a sort of in world Jurassic Park. The dinosaurs don't chase people around and try to eat them, but there are a lot of fun scripted items hiding in and around the island. Of particular interest to me are the book shelves in the visitor's center. there's also a supposed earlier version that got destroyed, with clues hidden within the ruins, but I haven;t quite figured those out yet.

The M. C. Escher Relativity House is fun for a while - though a bit cramped I thought. Thanks to resident Chel Core for this suggestion.

And there's a lot to be said for the showcase listings in Search. One of the coolest places I've been to lately is in the Showcase, Immersiva, by Bryn Oh. It's what virtual worlds should be like - totally unlike anything in reality.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Immersiva/35/107/20)

And if you're *really* bored, I have a playground with a trampoline, swingset, and little red wagon you can push each other around in.

Addendum.

If you are into art, there are a ton of galleries spread across the grid. Milla, who posted above has some nice ones featuring her mother's work, which to my eyes seem to handsomely evoke the works of American painters Charles Burchfield and Emily Carr.

I can also highly recommend the various Science Islands, featuring NPR's Science Friday and many others in the same area.

The Weather Channel has a great sim with pulse pounding skiing and a lot of ohter activities.

All of these can be found easily in Search -- wonder of wonders. ;)

Get a Beach Cat catamaran and find a place with race wind! It's an awesome sailing boat! Did I mention you can have two people controlling the sails? And it can flip over if you're not careful?

Or get any of the other fine sailboats offered in SL. Most have multiple sitting areas so you can have passengers and it's the perfect excuse to wear swimsuits! Enjoy the windlight water and sky! You could even just race each other with the free Tako sailboats.

The other thing I like to do is listen to a live musician. If you find a good one you will be amazed at how the feeling is so different from just listening and not interacting.

Exploring, or finding a place to just sit and chill for a bit. Especialyl when RL isn't going as planned, I like to go to this one place and sit and just listen to the background sounds they have there.

There are a few places like that which are cool to explore. If you search the forums for threads about exploring it'll give you a load of LMs to kick you off.

I also like sitting at home or high in the sky in a sandbox just manipulating prims. Occasionally something good comes out of it, mostly though I just end up deleting it all but feeling a lot calmer afterwards.

1. Amass a large set of avatars. You know, toasters, lounge lizards, water drops, monsters ... This really isn't expensive, and besides, they're not very hard to build if you are so inclined.

2. Find a couple of newbies engaged in conversation.

3. Obligingly morph into an avatar that suits the conversation every time the topic changes.

I dont think this is so, but I dont usually hang out where new people are.. Honestly the new people I have met are pretty cool...

But, honestly I did TP into a hub once where new people were and there was one girl going off.. um.. you know... and a bunch of male voices... anyway.. maybe you are right.

What, you think I'm not capable of putting together absurdly sexy avatars?

Besides, there's always the plumber's helper attachment for when the talk gets graphic ... and the ever-popular "big fire" to be slid under a noob's feet whenever the word 'hawt' is mentioned (put yourself in a static pose, attach it, and move it around ...) ... and, if build is on, the invisible trampoline to be slid under the feet of obnoxious contributors...

Amen! Ever since I found my partner on SL, I have found that everything else is just a teensy bit (or a lot!) down on the favorite list.

BUILD!! Take classes and learn to build new things, and old things in new ways. Buy stuff other people have built and design an area with it. Build more stuff to go with the stuff you've bought, and buy new stuff to go with the stuff you've built. Rearrange it. Scrap the whole thing and start over with a new theme. The weirder the better.

My neighbors must love me.
