at least you replied... I bought a movie to watch friday night, -baby mamma- never got the movie, I've sent 2 notecards and IMed like 4 times... Still no movie and NO refund.. I included transaction in the notecard to... I so wish I could give the name of this place out... The odd thing is, I have purchased movies from them before and never had problems with delivery.. You know renting movies on SL isn't cheap... So I not shop there again. First time in almost 2 years someone has just not replied.... I have not had anyone say they bought something in my store and wanted a refund though I have had them say it was not delivered.. I also dont do the bulk most people do either, so I know what and when I sell things.

A possibility is that they could've bought it from someone else. Always remember, there was a window of several years where someone could've gotten a full-perm copy out of your inventory.

Dear business owners - not all customers with their sorry tales of missing items are trying to rip you off! Recent example: I lost several things a week or so ago when a Linden sorting out a sim problem returned some items to owners by mistake. Mine turned up coalesced but promptly all disappeared when they failed to re-rez at another location and neither I nor LL Support could recover them. The one non-copy thing I missed most was a hammock with some nice couple poses I'd bought last year, so I took a chance asking the creator if she'd offer a replacement in the circumstances. I only had an approximate date of purchase from about 6 months ago, gleaned from my chatlog, and no transaction number, so I could have been trying it on as far as she knew. However she kindly replaced it instantly with good grace and -that- sort of customer service will ensure I go back to her store when looking for new poses and animations. I'm sure you do get the odd confused, mistaken or outright crooked request. But on the other hand, replacing an item if you can confirm the sale or feel the request could be genuine, doesn't cost you anything except a few moments of your time - it's nowhere near the same as giving another item in a RL commercial situation - but it can gain you a loyal customer and recommendations to their friends and acquaintances. -- Aes

I would agree the vast majority of requests I get for lost items, and usually its a non-delivery, are genuine requests. It happens to all of us. I think this thread was started talking about an extreme case, we have all had them.
I have certainly seen a rise in requests lately for lost items, which I attribute to all the sims shutting down from the OS tier increase. This is from people who weren't aware, or didn't remove their items in time. Myself had two tenants from two OS sims that were converted to a full sim have this problem. (LL told me the usual it will happen in 5-10 maybe as long as 3 weeks and it happened 2 days later). I got on live chat with them and then gladly brought them back on-line to retrieve the items. However I was not behind on payments, I have heard them deny these requests for people who owed money.
As far as replacing items, if the person seems genuine, I have no problem replacing it. There are limits however, but rarely do I deny someone unless I feel they are trying to cheat me. True, that normally it doesn't cost anything for a shop owner to replace an item, unlike RL. Though with my XPOSE beds there is a license fee for each bed, but its small. However, there is an intrinsic value for that item for resale. Satisfied customers are good customers and people remember and people remember even more shops that treated them like crap. I know I do from my first weeks in sl, and it sticks with people and they tell those stories.

I'm always dealing with people asking for returns or special deals, or whatever. Can't say I've met more than one or two people ever who I found to be deliberately trying to rip me off. Of course, it could just be that I'm a total sucker and fall for it every time.

That reminds me. Through no fault of my own, I lost a parcel of land that I bought from you some time ago - I forget exactly when. I can't find it anywhere. I was a whole sim and, whilst I know that you are not obliged to replace it, I would appreciate it if you would
