hmmm ok, we think this forums is not moderated, but I beg to differ
someone is working behind the scenes.... the ad thread about Deal, was moved to the new products, no forwarding links, no msg in the thread... strange... (saw it while browsing the new products forums)
Anyone else notice things like that?
Unexplained thread moves, or post closures, or edits?
Strangeness
We are being watched...

Yep, I've noticed a few threads being locked up over the past week or two, or maybe three and even a few posts being deleted and I know it wasn't from the poster.

Quick! Find a phone!
Actually, I've always thought we were being watched (and moderately moderated). Just hasn't been that much to moderate except the obvious name mentioning.

Whatever they are doing it is very inconsistant. Some things blatantly against the rules (and being reported as such) are being allowed to stay while others are being locked/moved. This is really not a good idea and leads to questions about the impartiality of the moderator and favoritism.

From: Damien1 Thorne looks like the thread about liking polls was deleted. Yeah, but that sh*t about windchimes that at least 4 of us reported is still there. Maybe I should start my ad thread and see if it gets deleted?

Millie is watching us somewhat. I think that is her first name. Seems like only now and then though, locking threads. Don't dare name names, she might lock this thread.

I think the moderator is just responding to reported posts/threads.

Strife always said, tho, that he did not have the power to delete posts or threads. Just lock, or send up for Linden Review. Interesting. .

Actually, I've always thought we were being watched (and moderately moderated). Just hasn't been that much to moderate except the obvious name mentioning. I am glad the forums are being read! At least it means that someone may be aware people are having issues and might...notice I said might...do something about them. I really think that Linden Labs needs to start taking customer complaints and some of the postings in the forums seriously before Second Life really starts to plummet quickly to their death rather then the slow one that seems to be happening at the moment. Customer Service is very much a negative for me with this company/product. The demise of Live Help in-world and switching to ticket incidence reports that are not resolved in a timely matter I see as a major Customer Service fiasco for Linden Labs. Linden Labs if you are monitoring this, please remember that there are other items in this hard pressed economy that are competing for our cold hard cash. My $300.00 or $400.00 a month is a piddly amount to be sure compared to some of your mega-users, but if you start losing people like me, a few here a few there, along with those who spend lessor amounts, pretty soon you will have no residents. Most having moved their hard earned wages to other games/social networking systems. I like SL very much, but some significant changes needs to be made to your company's way of doing business with its' customers. Happy Easter

Does it really matter if the threads are being moderated, but without messages, etc. Have any truly useful threads been locked or deleted?

I understand why the thread that named names was locked but why are the threads about windchimes, Trout ratings and Lana Tomba still open?
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the choices.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the choices. Maybe because they're not directly hurting anyone. I do agree that it would bug me if everyone and their grand-mother used RA for advertising, but as you could see in the chime thread, advertising here can backfire and you could lose as many customers as you gain. Self-moderating really can work. A few threads might squeak through, but knowing someone is around and could delete a thread anytime kind of keeps things in control (IMO). I don't personally feel entitled to an explanation. As for the Poll about polls? Who cares...

From: Isabeau Imako Maybe because they're not directly hurting anyone. I beg to differ as I see both threads continually at the top of the list while important threads with people seeking help and answers get pushed further down. Threads like both of them have made many new people to the forums think that it's nothing more than a general chat forum.

Seriously, I think they're only closing the threads that a certain number of people are reporting. Also, thanks for the tip about the windchimes thinger. That thread rocked!

After you brought this up yesterday I scanned the first two pages and it seems that all questions were getting good answers. .d

.d I can only share my experiences when I was a new person to the forums. It was much more moderated those days yet it was confusing as a new person to find answers amidst all the comments about pie and such. I don't stand alone, others have said the same thing. Ironic to me that Lana Tomba is one of them. With time, I got a hang of it and joined in all the silliness, but again it was to a much smaller degree than it is today. Friday was the one day that we had one thread entirely dedicated to just fun. It was always a nonsensical thread that should never have been created to begin with and so it morphed into our Friday thread. As I watch the forums now I hope that LL will give us the General Forum we need, but I'm presuming they'll most likely shut it down. I'm not saying people shouldn't have fun here. If that was the case no one would be here. I can't remember any time in these forums that we weren't having a good time.

From: Nika Talaj How much you want to bet? Momma needs a new pair of shoes. Since gaming is illegal I have an easy out for that one. I don't want to keep beating a dead horse and bore anyone by rambling on and on about this so I'll give my final word on this for now: I'm not saying RA has fallen into total chaos. As I said before, the vast majority of people in the past were quick to answer questions but there were only a few that ONLY clowned around. Today it appears most don't log on here to offer help, but are only logging on for the silliness. I have seen the shift over the past 4 months and I can only expect the trend to continue. I see it getting worse as more and more new people log in and think that the wacky antics are all it's about. Has it fallen into complete disarray? No, but I think it's heading that way and that's why I say LL will eventually shut it down if it does. I agree wholeheartedly that they should open a General Forum for us to be as madcap as we can. It would be the easy solution, but they don't seem interested in doing so. I'll finish off by saying that not only has the forum changed since the old days but we also use to be able to get bread for a nickel and I had to walk 5 miles in snow to get to school.
