My story has a happy ending. The shoe creator has excellent customer service. Within a minute of asking for help, I had the shoes back. YAY

(Note I answered Couldbe's question via IM).

I am grateful to have been set straight on the no copy/no transfer thing. I can't believe I was struggling to help a newbie buy a skin a couple days ago and I could have just handed her one.

Just empty the trash no use having a trash folder if it has 8000 items to sift through :)
You could always create a folder called "Maybe Trash" and move stuff into that first.
Stuff gets deleted accidently all the time, sometimes transfered, I've even found somehing I thought SL had eaten in an alts inventory a few times.

Generally people never empty trash until just after inadvertently deleting an AO or dance system loaded with L$20,000+ worth of animations.

If you empty your trash regularly (which I feel people should as it keeps their inventory cleaner and smaller), give it a quick scan before you do. You may find something you did not mean to toss.
If you are editing an object inworld and hit the delete key, the object gets deleted (usually as you wish) UNLESS you have clicked in your inventory window and then whatever you clicked gets deleted. I accidentally deleted my entire POSES-DANCES folder this way............ and then emptied trash without browsing it first. Important lesson learned.

Yes and I *nearly* did it with my Intan the other day which is loaded to the tune of about L$450,000 in animations.

And that is a harsh lesson to learn. I am dreadfully sorry it's happened to you.

Thank you. The dances that I really liked were in my Huddles, so the biggest thing I lost in that aspect were all the Couple dances I had bought. And many of the Poses were group gifts or hunt gifts that are not even available to replace.

Ahhh, we live and learn.

Just to briefly resurrect this thread, I wanted to mention that I have at least two sets of items in my inventory that have all 3 perms (no copy, no mod, no transfer). Though I erred originally by saying that everything I had that was no copy was also no transfer, it does appear that it's possible to have all 3 perms at the same time and I had not totally lost my mind. :-)

But Lindens don't seem to want to talk about it, and it's likely going to be part of "Viewer-2009/SL-2.0" so who knows when we'll actually have it :(.

Neat ... I have been wanting a link ability for outfits for a long time. It would seem a really trivial matter (would not break perms at all) to have objects be local links rather than infringing on things the designer only wants one rezzed at a time of.

I happened to mention this to a Linden. His first reaction was to say 'wait for viewer 2009' ... followed by immediately shutting up about the whole topic.
