I realized that since i started my SL life, my body has had some obvious changes.
Occasional pain in the neck, waist and also darkened eye circles, compared to pre-SL times.
Somehow i am just another typical example of too much online time, i guess.
Ah, time for my yoga now(seriously). Bye.

Ah, time for my yoga now(seriously). Bye. (O_O)... Okay... I spend a lot of time in SL, but, not to the point where it physically affects me. I know it's fun and all. But, if you're observing real changes in your body, consider taking more breaks. It's not healthy. (>_<

I dont agree with many of these people in forums much of time coz I am just bolshie BUT I do agree with them that if YOU are experiencing physical side effects from sl, then YOU must get out more. Don't stay on line all day. Keep it in perspective.
The waist pain could mean radial pain from sitting too long.

No body aches here - except when I get out and ride my bike and then hit a bump and flip over the handlebars. That hurts a lot more now than when I was 12. I recommend walking while listening to podcasts.

From: Ceka Cianci sleep is your biggest friend..set a time to log off and stick with it..you will go down hill faster than anything once you start losing sleep.. Very true. I lost a lot during my first week in SL which was also accompanied by a loss of appetite and heartburn. Actually I am already very used to sleep loss from another one of my pastimes but it never came with those other symptoms. The weekend just gone was none stop raining so I ended up in my second life a lot where the weather was a lot better

the pains in the neck are usually concentrated in the forum.

Haha, thanks for everyone's concern It's not as serious as THAT, just describing the situation in the beginning of my SL days when the eyes can't seem to get off the screen. And i do have a life, a quite busy one too, tyvm, unlike what i projected in my thread, hehe. (Omg i must've sounded like someone who stays online all day and night who pees in a bucket and doesn't leave her monitor all day.)

Most of my computer-use related aches come more from the fact that I am on the computer for work all day -- had all those various aches and pains long before discovering SL.
Do a checkup of your computer area and make sure your desk, chair, monitor, keyboard, and mouse are all properly adjusted to not put more strain on muscles -- check the web for recommendations on this.

No aches or pains here, but then I (these days) rarely spend more than a few hours on the computer without a break.

Funnily enough I have noticed a bit of neck ache and wrist ache in recent weeks, although I'm not on SL or the computer in general as much these days as I have been in the past. Also I get a sort of uncomfortable feeling in my tummy muscles - not pain but a sort of constricted feeling.
I am very active, I do a lot of walking, swimming, cycling and some dancing. I also get just about enough sleep. I think possibly the thing with SL is that I tend to keep my head and body completely still for long periods, just typing or mouseing.
I've never done one of those marathon all-nighters or all-dayers that you hear about on SL and with other computer games - I don't know how people do that - I just couldn't do it, except perhaps if I was being paid a lot!!!

My elbow does tend to get red and let me know if I'm leaning on it too much, mostly when I'm bored lol. Other than that though, not much to report. As a veteran of the SL all-nighter, I'm suprised I've remained pretty much ache and pain free. The same can't be said for some of my dates though.. I have confirmation of numerous sore wrists, cramps, a strain, and even an "oh s**t!" zipper injury I didn't ask.. just laughed

I have rheumatoid arthritis. You should get checked out. It can cause similar symptoms to what you describe. When it acts up, which is occasionally, it will affect more than only my joints. I actually get sick and will loose weight, too.

Since I began designing things for sale in SL I've noticed a sore/stiff right wrist from all the mouse/digital-pen use but that's all.

Meh. Years of gaming have taught me my limits. I think I can handle a 24hr stretch easily. After that I need to pry my fingers off the mouse. So far I've got a F*cked up back from years of sitting (at home & work) in front of a computer, along with some carpal tunnel. Ah! And add to that- I need reading glasses. Most likely from starring at monitors all day. If I didnt have to pee every so often, I'd probably sit here more.

Occasional pain in the neck, waist and also darkened eye circles, compared to pre-SL times. Ya, regular breaks, exercise, sleep, etc. It may be Second Life, but you only have one body. Be good to it.

Ah, time for my yoga now(seriously). Bye. You're getting an awful lot of advice where you're being told to take a break, go for a walk, do other things. The thing is, many of these same people practically live in these forums themselves 24/7. Sort of like the blind leading the blind.
