What? Why!? TELL ME WHY! PLEASE!
It's seriously frustrating me to no end. I noticed the default age is 1979, so is this the maximum date? Because people born in 1981 would be 18 still (I am not, though I won't say my real age)
Trying from Canada, using a SIN.
Also I haven't lived alone for very long, so I'm not sure if my old addresses will even work.

Amea, it has failed because their system is totally screwed and doesn't work. Don't bother with it. Rather put payment info on file. That will count as being verified under their new policy.

From: Amea Aya Trying from Canada, using a SIN. According the the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, unless you are an agent of the court or government, financial or educational institution, law enforcement officer or your current employer, it is illegal in Canada to verify a SIN to a third party. Volunteer your information to unaccredited foreign entities at your own peril.

Verify using a random street address in Australia using a random name and drivers licence number, work for 2 disposable alts so far. Hopefully they will can the verification system if we can draw enough attention to how easily it's fooled and useless it is. I'd rather have PIOF only, at least it would have a higher rating of effectiveness alone, Aristole verification is having a wide open side door while you have armed guards on the main entry.

I have payment info on file so all is well with regards to the new policy. As far as people restricting their own land to age verified only it's not. The other day I was flying around in dragon form with a friend, and while he flew off unhindered, I suddenly found myself with a sore nose after having banged into a banline due to not being age verified. It was awfully embarrassing for such a proud creature, I tell ya.
Oh and I did try verifying a while back, but nope, no luck on that.

The information they have in respects to your street address seems to be a bit dated too. If you have moved in recent years (I had to go back to an address I had 5 years ago - the one I had when I first got my license, not the place I'm at now despite my address change supplement on my license).
Non-US countries seem to be sketchier than US ones too. So if it's an issue - scan a copy (or run to FedEx/Kinkos and spend the $1 to scan and e-mail it to yourself) and use the manual verification procedures in the page that Lord Sullivan linked to above.

They really need to completely remove the current parcel restriction check because it is a major FAIL. I successfully age verified way back when and I still cannot get into all areas that have be flagged.

Volunteer your information to unaccredited foreign entities at your own peril. Personally I would never use my SIN to age verify but I don't think it's illegal to voluntarily provide it to Aristotle (see bullet point 4): http://www.priv.gc.ca/fs-fi/02_05_d_21_e.cfm To what extent is collection of SINs permissible in the private sector? - Employers are authorized to collect SINs from employees in order to provide them with records of employment and T-4 slips for income tax and Canada Pension Plan (CPP) purposes.
- Organizations such as banks, credit unions, brokers and trust companies are required under the Income Tax Act to ask for customers’ SINs for tax reporting purposes (e.g., interest earning accounts, RRSPs, etc.).
- No private-sector organization is legally authorized to request customers’ SINs for purposes other than income reporting. Even in the case of a financial institution, if a customer’s account is not of a type that earns interest (e.g., if it is a credit account as opposed to a savings account), there is no legal requirement for the organization to collect the individual’s SIN, and no obligation for the individual to supply it.
- Even so, there is no law prohibiting an organization from asking for a customer’s SIN, or a customer from supplying the SIN, for purposes other than income reporting.
Although we do not recommend the practice, we recognize that an organization may ask for the SIN, and a customer may choose to supply it, for reasonable purposes of identification, provided that the principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) are duly observed.

Oh yeah. I've tried tho get verification a few months ago, but it failed. So i've submitted a ticket for more information.
This was the answer i've received:
---------------------------------------
If age verification is not working for you on the website, we can verify you manually here through the support portal ticket system.
In order to pass manual age verification we require at least two (2) legible scanned images.
-One (or more) of: Driver's License, Passport, State or National ID, Birth Certificate, etc showing date of birth and name
AND
- at least one (1) piece of additional documentation such as a receipt, a utility bill, pay stub, bank statement with receipt type, name and address clearly shown and matching that of the ID (NOT just an envelope or address label).
Other identifying information such as account numbers etc may be omitted or obscured as long as it is clear what type of document it is, it appears valid and authentic, and all the required information is clearly legible.
You may send them by adding them to this ticket as an attachment. If you cannot provide authentic documentation with the required information, we will not be able to manually age verify your account.
---------------------------------------
Maybe this will help you.
As for myself, i never gave this information, as i found it a bit too personal. And i don't have any guarantee that this information stay within LL. I have a premium account that i pay with VISA. More than personal information enough, IMO.
If people don't want age verified people on their land, hey no problem. I just go elsewhere. No problem for me.

From: Lord Sullivan From: Amea Aya Will a verified paypal account count as age verification? Yes Er.. No. It will count as "account verification" which will also allow you to get at "adult" stuff. Subtle but important difference - LL has been careful not to say "age verification" in this context.

Opps I have been very careful to say account verification not age verification just we were talking about aristotle which is billed as age verification and as LL says age verification for that (see post 15) I didn't feel the need to explain it all After reading everything posted on the subject and attending 2 BB meetings I should not have made that mistake and corrected it to read account verification but I am not pep Also your quotes are not correct when you replied as all I said was yes

Meanwhile, Live Chat is spreading misinformation
06-06-2009 15:24
They are telling people that only age verification counts for getting into adult areas, in direct contradiction to the Knowledge Base. Live chat history (used with permission) http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Comments_from_other_Linden_Staff#Comments_from_Live_Chat_SupportKnowledge Base Quote: As part of this initiative, we will require Residents who access adult content (or view Adult search results) to go through an account verification process -- either being verified through our age verification provider, or have a verified payment method. Source: https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=6032At this point it does no good to be spreading misinformation on this subject.

Does access to Adult areas only work with very recent clients? I am PIOF and have done lots Paypal/Xstreet, yet with my laptop (using a very old client) cannot get into Ursula sims. Haven't tried it on my good computer, which I see very seldom these days.
Perhaps that's because, in older clients, there is no way to set the Adult content flag in Preferences? Does anyone know if there will be a debug param or something that you can set to specify access to Adult content?
TIA .
