Wow...a lot to assimilate and a lot to research. This should be fun! Thanks for the education on silks, there's a lot to keep in mind and i have lots of ideas spinning around. Just not sure that I'm at the skill level to bring them to life....but the attempts will be fun by themselves!

Lexii, you are so right. And some silks have cape-like attachments that use the spine as well ARGH. And then Master/Mistress buys them for you and you have to spend forever adjusting them.
A good silk product line should offer at least some sets that are collar-friendly. Actually, my favorite set of silks has a regular top and is sexy as it can be. |

I received an IM yesterday while I was offline by someone with the first name of Justus, however before I could respond I crashed.
He offered to have his partner help me out as she is a "fashionista" he said. Anyway, Justus, I would love to respond but I cannot for the life of me remember your last name. When I get inworld later tonight, I can search just using Justus to see if I find you. If not, or if anyone knows who this might be, please let me know. I don't want him to think I'm rude because I didn't respond, and would love to talk to his partner about her input. Thanks!Never Mind...I found his IM. |

Silk colors

Hi, Sunni
I just found this thread so am jumping in a lil late. You probably have this info already but thought I'd add my 2 cents. The color of clothing a girl wears has absolutely NO bearing on whether she is white silk or red silk. Those are two terms from the books that simply denote if a girl is a virgin or not. Many onlineisms abound regarding what a girl can wear and when, etc. Most of it is simply that...rules and protocols created for online purposes. A white silk girl can do everything a red silk girl can, except coitus...though most will try to get out of service that is heading in an intimate direction as most Gorean males want to complete the act. A frustrating trend I have noticed online is that girls seem to hold their 'white silk' status as something holy and not to be belemished. Lordy, why?? Being red silk is infinitely more fun ![]() As far as tips on silks (which I hate as a general term, btw)... I get frustrated when shopping, as another poster stated, there is a lot of crap out there! When I am shopping for outfits, I will not buy prim tops usually...they mostly look like they are pinned to your nipples and how comfortable is THAT?? I want something that looks soft and graceful. I will not buy tops that give you that 'half-nipple' exposed look. I think it looks tacky. Instead, make a lovely sheer top. As for skirts, make them equally as graceful and, as mentioned, don't make them float for a year before settling. In the books, the majority of outfits described have skimpy short skirts, not the romanticised online version of a Madam Abla belly dance outfits. Don't get me wrong...these are soooo beautiful and yes, I love wearing them (would kill for an offline Madam Abla design!!!), but they are not what most girls in the books would wear. When adding decoration, keep it soft and simple. I don't like the heavy looking jewel-encrusted versions you find everywhere. Especially the "pinned to the boobie" looks. OUCH!!! Also, keep in mind that slaves often had access different outfits for different occasions. Think daywear and evening wear...with daywear being a smidge more modest, perhaps not as sheer yet still revealing her body...something to serve a FW with (not all FW want slave parts bobbing and flashing). Evening wear would be far more sheer, skimpy, perhaps more elaborate if the occasion was something special. And, of course, there is always formal skin for any occasion, day or not...lol Clothing for male slaves: I think the whole male slave skirt genre is very femme looking. MOST of the males slaves from the books were imprisoned free men being used as laborers. They pretty much wore whatever they were captured in or nothing. There are a few references to male "silk slaves" (a term, btw, is not applied to female slaves) and yes, they are a more femme version of manhood. Though I do not have my books in front of me for a direct quote, I believe there was one mention of a male silk slave in a tunic and necklace...but no skirt to his ankles. Many online male slaves are simply trained the same as a female slave would be, which pretty much just turns out pansy acting male slaves (just my opinion), so it is no wonder that their fashion reflects that. This excerpt is from one of Ubar Luther's scrolls: "Slaves are broken down into two major categories, white and red silk. Simply, white silk girls are virgins and red silk girls are not. The color of the silk bears no reference to their level of training. A White Silk girl could be a fully trained Pleasure Slave while a Red Silk girl could be a new recruit from Earth who did not even speak Gorean yet. No other color silk means anything on Gor. Yellow silks, black silks and the such are online creations and are not based on information from the books." He has done very extensive studies of the books and posts his essays for all to read and learn. You can find his essays, including information on the various fashions of kajirae, at http://www.geocities.com/delphius2002/index.htm . Feel free to IM me if you want more info. I'm always glad to help people out. Happy designing! I'd love to see what you have come up with ![]() Anjaleka |
