changing address registered with LL

When I first joined SL, I was living at a different address than I live at now.
Is there a way to change the address they have on file?

I looked under the account stuff, and could not find anything for address, only email, and cc or payment method

I never thought of it till now as I was looking at the different links they have there, one of them being account statements, which has my old address on it.

Maybe a phone call?

and have them screw everything up? was hoping for a simple, oh it is this link, kind of answer

(I have only ever called LL once on the phone and that was a disaster, so.. that would be the last resort)

I guess the address really has no bearing, unless I were having a cheque sent, which I don't, my L's stay in game to be converted to cover the tier

Maybe changing the payment information is all that's needed (I can't remember but a card has to be tied to an address). Beyond that I've no clue.

I have changed payment info several times since moving to the new address, and the cc's I used have the new address but it did not change the address on file.

I've been round and round on this with all kinds of LL "help" over months. My address is still the one I lived at 3 years ago. My credit card won't validate because of it, so they luck out and don't get any extra dough from me lol.

yep mine is a 3 year old address too

ah I am just gonna not worry about it

maybe eventually someday, I will contact them with a suggestion of "add a way to change our physical address" button

Start a jira issue. I'd vote for it.

maybe you can submit a ticket and explain your reason for change your address, maybe they whant some prove like a fax with your new location.

I will see if there is one already, if not I will start one. Stay tuned


As for the ticket idea, nah, would rather have a way that I can just go in and change it myself.


Edited to add, could not find it anywhere on the JIRA, can not add at this time, as it says it is going through maintenance, and to not add new ones.

the number of people that initially register with names like 'joe blow' must be astounding. it would be nice if ll let people update their details. im sure they have some 'security' reason for forbidding it, but even my bank and the federal tax office will let me update my details online.

Somewhere along the line, my RL name got misspelled. It was probably a simple typo on my part when I was entering the information.. and I only noticed the discrepancy when I was going through the PDF versions of USD transaction history.. in preparing my taxes.

Honestly, LL is the only company I have ever seen, that won't even allow me to view the information I have on file with them... much less change it.

I also no longer live at the address I did when I signed up. Nor do I still have the same phone number.

I was able to get the information changed by contacting Billing Support live help. I guess that's a solution for people who have premium accounts.

I'm sure LL has some sort of an excuse why they can't trust me with my own information.

Is there, perchance, already a web jira open to request implementing that feature? Would it make sense to open one?

I didn't say "reason"... I said "excuse".

I've gone the ticket route to no avail. JIRA is probably the only way at this point.

I believe a mailing address is not required at signup anymore, this could be why you can't go in and edit it.

However, I agree that we should be able to view and edit our own contact information whether it is required or not.

I'm confused, where are you seeing an old address? I don't see an address listed anywhere in my account (other than country of residence which comes from CC verification IIRC)

when you initially signed up you would have been asked for this info.
somebody... maybe adz childs... detailed a way to fool the website into allowing you to see the info you signed up with. might be interesting to try that.

if you go to your account info and click the account statements, that is where it shows what address you have on file.

(also shows name, which I need to change as well, since I have gotten married since signing up with LL and changed my name)

no need to fool the website to do anything, just go to your account, the the account statement link, then view one of the months shown (mine show all months since I started SL)

huh, sure enough, it's my old address, I think they'd have a little trouble trying to bill me there lol, it's only about 600mi away in another state.

for reference, under US law, they have to provide both what information they have for you and the method by which you can correct it (and or dispute it).

Oh dear. I'm moving house in the next few months. My SL funding, including tier, comes from my CC. Reading of your experiences makes me think that it would be a good idea to load up my USD account with a few weeks or even months of tier, just in case I have an extended period of grief trying to get this sorted out with LL

I decided to ask in live chat support as I will be changing addresses in the future myself and this was the response. I put X's in for the names of the support as I am not sure of the TOS for listing the names.

So I am just as confused as before the chat and my conclusion is not to worry about it as LL does not seem to care as long as your billing info (credit card or PayPal) is current.
