Another reason to hate Emerald

Huh? We hate Emerald? I thought we loved Emerald!!

The drama around products like this is silly and Emerald is disabling it soon anyway.

That little script will only work some of the time and only against the current release of the Emerald viewer. For it to work, *all* of the following conditions have to be met:

1. The Emerald user must be within 20 meters of the avatar wearing the HUD at the time the profile window is opened.
2. The Emerald user must be wearing the bridge attachment
3. The script in the Emerald bridge attachment must be currently running (a bug often prevents that).
4. The Emerald user must have *both* of "Enable LSL-Client Bridge" and "True online status in profiles" enabled.

The next Emerald version will be using a different channel negotiation method that will break this HUD.

I, personally love Emerald. My question is, why hate the viewer when its others that are creating products to enhance (possibly questionnable) it? To me, that is just plain silly. Just don't use it. You DO have that choice. It really is quite simple.

/me downloads Emerald viewer just to find people using this HUD and annoy the hell out of them.

I have never had anyone use this product on me. I didn't even know it existed until I saw this thread.

It's a stupid product anyway. I don't care who knows if I'm reading someone's profile, and I don't care who reads mine. That's what it's there for, after all.

The only reason this thing exists is to start arguments.

Wearing that flippin' bridge is an OPTION? Every time I detach it it comes right back.....

Uncheck "enable lsl-client bridge" in the preferences before you detach, and then you can take it off for real.

Perhaps you have not run into those awful profile messages that curse you out for looking at their profile and tells you to get lost? Their profile is just for their "friends", all the rest of us need to RAISE UP OUTTA THERE.

I have come across a number of "If you are reading this, know that I am reading yours".
No problem. I read profiles everywhere I go.
If there's some private stuff that I want my friends to know, I'll tell them in Chat.

If I ever hear "Sling Trebuchet is reading X's Profile!!!!" or "Hey! Why are you reading my Profile??", I'll just (truthfully) say "I'm reading *everybody's* Profile!!"

Some people's degree of obsession with themselves knows no bounds, apparently.

I love surfing profiles.

I call people with empty profiles "Ghosts".

If anyone is bothered by all this, just uncheck that "true online status" feature, you can always copy and paste the avatar's key into an conventional online status script to do the same thing without the drama.
