Starax pieces for sale?

Back in the old days, when Taco was still around, Uchi and Loafy and I were hanging around in a skybox high above Dwellget. Uchi attached a Starax goldfish to his head and the headfish was born. My avatar at the time was an otter, so I took to wearing it and handing out copies to people when they asked me about it.

Them: Argent, you have a fish.
Me: What fish?
(hand them a copy, they wear it)
Me: It must be in your head.
(which of course it was by this time)

Cheap yucks, yes, but pretty soon I started seeing people wanding around with Headfish that I'd never met... it had gone viral. People started making more elaborate headfishes, which was cool. A year or so later, 7 Seas shows up, and people's headfishes start getting replaced by 7 Seas fishes. And now...



Yes, someone's reinvented the original inspiration for the whole headfish phenomenon.

yes I do have the gold fish too lol but would love to have drowned if it ever turns up again, thats nice

A super neat friend of mine has a Huge starax collection. When we have the prims free he places them all around my LollerCoasters route. gosh it makes that ride sooo awesome.
Over the years he has generously gifted to me quite a few of my favs. Stand outs are Fountain Girl(@Lollercoaster entrance) and The Hug. I think its called The Hug, the center piece to Black Swan. It is huge!

Sady i have heard thru him that there are a ton of copies out there. So be super super careful.

(sidenote: i have never had a good, or big enough realy, to place The Hug. I would love to leave it out for people to see. Does anyone have any ideas? remember its like 80 meters tall.)

I don't want to derail this thread into yet another copybotish discussion but something that could make a copy of fountain girl that's indistinguishable from the original is absolutely not possible with copybot or anything like copybot. It just cannot be done with those tools and would have to been made via an exploit.

As for not ever buying anything Starax ever again because it might have come from some bogus source, I just can’t go there. He, the Starax avatar, has been gone for over 3 years now and if he is still in SL, he’s not public about it. He’s not getting money from ANY of these sales, bogus or legit. As much as I’d love to see content thieves taken out back and beaten, repeatedly, Starax’s work makes the grid a more beautiful place and I don’t think people should let the threat of theft prevent them from keeping that alive.

/me wonders if anybody has an empty region or two that would be willing to host a Starax show where people could display their pieces. Maybe Pathfinder or somebody like that could be talked into sparing a couple empty regions for a week or so…

I know a few people with a lot of empty land, I'll ask around if they want to host a Starax sculpture exhibit.

That would be cool.

I guess I spoke without thinking it through too much.. There'd likely need to be some serious coordination and, if it actually did come together, it'd be a waste not to find some non-controversial charity or something to tie it into. Nothing pushy - just some donation jars and a bit of signage.

I *might* be able to place the lovers at our harbor entrance. IM me in world, and let's see how it looks there...

I love the idea of a public Starax exhibit. Count me in!

If you're going to put together an exhibit, you may want to directly contact the several collectors who have advertised to buy or sell pieces in the forums over the years. Search for threads with "Starax" in the title.

I can't remember how much spare space she has but if she's willing I'll clear of a patch a land I have beside hers on the other side of the river to give her room to rez some of her collection for a while.
