And this years hypocrit award goes to CHRIS NORSE - thread saboteur extraordinaire , master of the block 'em with ban lines brigade and one man polar bear (I'll beat em with my opposable thumb) fighting machine.....
...but he'll win back your sympathies exploiting tales of hs personal woe at a later point.

From: Chaos Borkotron <snipped totally uncalled for words> i think the your title sums you up pretty well "Loud Arrogant Redneck" While I might not agree with Chris' point of view on this, your response was WAY over the top.

I do usually ignore you. But I do have to wonder why you want to tear me down? Do you dislike that some men have the courage of their principles? I stand behind every word I have ever said here.

From: Kornscope Komachi Poor Chaos. Shot down again. /throws a woolen blanket over and douses the flames. I reckon it IS a funny thing. It's a prank, not griefing.
The fun police are taking over the planet. Can't there be some fun around, the world sucks badder and badder as it is. That all depends on your definition of "fun". If by "fun", you mean preying those that aren't SL-savvy for your enjoyment, I would think you would need to redefine "Fun". That definition of "fun" is only a cover for feeding your ego and sense of self-worth. In short... you're an asshole.

lol its really funny being able to tell what part of the world (or country) each of us are from just down to our sense of humour.
All the people that prank was played on LOLed and ROFLcoptered so much, no1 was 'hurt'
People without a sense of humour don't tend to hang around SL for long I've learned.

My very first scripted project in SL was The Plywood Box called "FunBomb". Basically, it was physical, and taunted people in live chat to come over and touch it. If you tried to touch it from far away, it would taunt you some more to come CLOSER and touch it. When you did, it basically "exploded" with sound and particles, pushing the toucher straight up in the air a couple hundred meters or so. Some smart apple tried sitting on it then touching it, but it just unsat anyone sitting on it, and launched them even higher (since the distance was determined by how close they were to the box when it "went off" . I never put it out in a griefing context, but just rezzed it in our sandbox when it got dull and people were bored. It always drew a crowd of people who just HAD to "touch the box" for a quick trip above the clouds.

From: SweetDeb Kips Why would you want to do this to someone who is new to sl? Sounds kind of mean to me... muhahhahahahahh I was turned into a deformed avatar from a free beer (and rl I HATE BEER) when I was new and had a follower script or whatever it was following me around that said noob... I was trapped and sunk to the bottom of a sim as well.... this is nothing.

I had a button that was labelled "don't touch".
If you touched it it used 250 linked pushers to launch you over 2 billion meters up, back when that was still possible.
People used to beg me to rez it so they could touch it.

Tricking newbs like the op is not funny, since everyone was one at one point and they don't know anything really. It's just mean-spirited and gives SL a bad name, all in all.

From: Ephraim Kappler How on earth can this be considered 'griefing'? I thought it was funny and even as a newbie I would have found it funny. Puerile jokes can sometimes be the funniest simply because of the puerility quotient. Full marks for the dopey mot-valise, roflcopters, which had me rotating on the floor laughing my ass off. Okay, the term "roflcopter" is pretty childish. That said, though... In my years in the military, I have sent many a new guy off to go fetch me a left-handed screwdriver, and it never failed to amaze and amuse me to what extent the poor guy would go through to try to retrieve one! Later, we would let the guy in on the prank, and then go out for a few beers. It never bothered anyone for very long, because it was nothing more than a harmless prank. It concerns me greatly, though, that we now live in a time and culture where people honestly cannot tell the difference between a prank and a griefer attack, and react to every prank as if they were griefed. This truly, truly worries me.
