See post #5

It only counts for half of the versus, albeit the stronger half.

Phil, if its any consolation, this has happened to us too.. a few times.
The very very best one was this guy who IM me same thing.. the bed didnt work .. no menu etc
so i ask him to pass me the bed to check.. no he says he will bring it.. send him a TP please. So i send him a TP.. and wait and wait.. i send him an IM asking him if he got the TP.. yes he says one moment... 10 minutes later .. another IM.. please send TP again..
so i do.. 5 min later another IM.. hangon i am changing.. then 10ish minutes later.. please send TP again.. so i do

eventually he arrives with a hugely erect penis attached. I ask him nicely to remove it. but he goes straight into this tirade about the effing bed and how it effing wont work.. and how he bloodywell wants his money back...and another copy of the bed as compensation.. how we stole his money by selling him stuff that didnt work..

so i ask him to give me the bed.. and lo and behold.. its empty.. I explained how sometimes ppl can make a mistake and remove the contents (which werent even in the root prim to avoid this prob) and i just gave him back the empty bed and told him to look in his invent.. and to send me the 199 animations and the bed and i will send him a replacement.

never heard from him again. he left with the bed and his raging hardon.

I never even think about it anymore. It happens that people break stuff, deliberate or not. It's not worth the effort or energy to find out if they are legit.
That's not for me. I prefer not to do 2 for the price of 1 if I can help it. The "effort and energy" costs nothing, and in most cases, dealing with it in detail actually teaches the person how to deal with it themselves in the future, when SL messes something up; i.e. Reset Scripts in Selection.

Perhaps you should put more effort and energy into dealing with these cases instead of keeping an eye on your All search rankings ;) (j/k)

I used to run a dancefloor business last year before better dancefloors came onto the market and I wasn't good enough to compete lol.

Anyway, I got some pretty female avatars over to dance around and in exchange allow me to use the pictures as part of the promotional campaign, some of them thought I was being a perve lol, but it was for my promotional pictures of people dancing on my dancefloors.

People really do take the mickey, I think there was about 6 of them and I clicked them all and paid them all a few hundred lindens each for about 20 mins of their time, so a good deal really.

One of them claimed not to have received the money so I paid her twice, only to get an IM from her friend to tell me she had ripped me off! I took it on the chin but people can be really scanky can't they?

Of course not, that wouldn't be much of a game at all.

Playing, in and of itself, does not equate a loss. (Though, you did just lose, as did I)

I don't know for certain that the girl was knowingly involved in the attempted theft but, since she didn't IM to say something like, "Sorry. I'd no idea he took them out", I favour that they tried it between them.

She may not have understood any or most of it, especially if new. I wouldn't have, without being around SL and the forums long enough to know that it is the scripts that are the costly part.

She may not have known it was wrong (to take from one thing and put in another) in other words, as incredible as it may sound. Maybe she did not realise he'd removed them, and/or did not realise that to remove the scripts would disable the furniture. (If she did realise it, then she was a rather stupid thief, to call in the owner!) HE may have conned her into edit rights in order to try and steal your scripts from HER. That he asked her for edit rights and she granted them, denotes either absolute trust between them for a reason (MAYBE to join forces but again, fairly stupid if calling you in?), or her gullibility and his cunning.

Or she may have felt like once bought, they were ok to dupe. Who knows. With Limewire and such it's a dupe-ok society now.

Thinking about it further, I tend to vote 'her gullibliity and his cunning' - his asking her for edit rights, his removing the scripts, and HER not knowing what is going on or why it didn't work. I bet he was surprised to see you come in and discover what happened let alone having to give the scripts back to her. ;)

Dunno. The top ones seem to be randomly jumping around lately :D

I don't see that as being wrong. Once they've paid for them, they can do what they want with them. I had a customer once call me out to help with putting the stuff back and getting it work. He'd tried to make a bed and put my contents in it. I helped him - he wasn't trying to steal anything.

That's quite possible, but I favour the other interpretation of things, because she didn't say a word of apology to me. If I'd been her, and a friend had done that, causing me to trouble a creator, saying that it doesn't work, I'd be very embarrassed and would definitely express that to the creator.

That is the game to which we were both referring. "I lose."

The real hilarity of the whole situation is that the time it would take this couple to adjust all the poses in the new bed to fit is more than the cost to just buy a bed with poses already in it and set up. And then if they happen to restart said item, they lose the settings unless they had the forethought to follow the instructions to dump the settings and paste them into the correct notecard.

That's a WHOLE LOT OF WORK to avoid paying...what...$1000L for another item with adult poses?
Do you make more than $4.50 USD an hour?

And when you consider that in order to even have a place to put a bed, they have to have paid for land or paid to rent, so they have already spent RL money in SL....the situation just gets more comical.
