From: Treasure Ballinger I noticed it too in top scripts, only recently. My question is, how do you approach someone with this issue, when they are using a huge amount of resources? Now that you know, is there anything you intend to do about it? If you are an estate owner/manager, are you going to have a chat with your good, tier paying resident to explain this and ask them to do something about it? I'm not sure how to proceed when I notice that it's an actual avatar. I don't want to lose people by being overly ticky. I would recommend against approaching anyone about it. Unless it is staff or friends. Ask them what they are running. Investigate it all to get an understanding of what is going on. Unless it is just way out there like 10.0 MS Like you said, you don't want to lose tenants or guests. 99.9% of it is not malicious. Users just have lots of gadgets. Linden labs is collecting data on it to make possible changes, I would recommend just monitoring it. I have seen places kill them selves by policing guests as they come in . asking them to strip them selves of all scripts.. people leave and don't come back.. I would leave it upto Linden Labs to sort it out.. Hopefuly they make some throttling changes. Or allow an owner to Disable the use of certain scripts/tools or gadgets thru server software. Mystitool would be my top pick to disable and If they incorporate the AO hud system into the viewer would be a huge load taken off lol' Maybe some day they will enable loading scripts on the viewer instead of having them run server side..

From: Cristalle Karami Only region owners and estate managers can check top scripts, and if you own mainland, you can't. Damn - figures

From: Cristalle Karami I guess the fundamental question is, what is a decent script time for avatars and for sims in general? Yeah, what is reasonable? I just checked myself and am running at 0.270. One of my residents is running at 0.578.

From: Treasure Ballinger Yeah, what is reasonable? I just checked myself and am running at 0.270. One of my residents is running at 0.578. It will take some time and testing to find out. I am running at 2.4 when I am alone in the sim, but when I had 5 other friends over, I had dropped down to 1.7, even though I had not changed a thing. So it sounds like the sim will do it's own throttling based on load.

Right. If your sim is busy then I doubt making that one person leave will make much difference anyway. I think I would do what I have always done and request everyone remove some of their unnecessary attachments to help ease the pain. Usually when I do that I see a large drop in the number of active scripts in the sim and the results vary on how much it helps. If sim owners start harrassing people then they may quickly find themselves in a very lag free sim, because it will be empty of avatars.
