Dude, when did that change?
No later than August and the 1.19 generation of servers; see later comments in http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-404. Might even be in release notes somewhere, but I'm too lazy to hunt.

I noticed it by accident as an alt had a bad "home" spot set and just gave it a try - I was suprised when it worked. It keeps us on our toes - we have to check everything periodically :-D
