So here is the story:
A friend of mine just decided to join SL, but since her english is worst than mine she asked me to post this:
She saw my avatar and after I told her that although I buy lots of clothes sometimes the best shops also have some gifts to their male costumers, she asked me if I knew some good female shops that did the same, she's still with her noob look and she wanted to have a better and sofisticated look lolol I told her to see "Fabulously Free in SL" but since she already saw my links to Armidi, Maitreya and Minnu she's asking some help to become a top-model-like-freebie-avatar heheheh
Can you ladies help?

If she is less than 30 days old, she could check out this thread. /327/3b/234755/1.html

Can you ladies help? Pony up the cash and buy her what she wants. You'll both be happier in the long run. I can't say much about freebies, I pretty much started buying from the beginning, I don't have any in my inventory. I know Gurl6 has Freebie Hair for new people, and SinSkins has an under 30 day pack, the skin I use is in that set actually. Otherwise, send her to the Hangout. There are some freebie vendors there that the gang have made.

Freebies
04-05-2008 09:33
SLexchange.com has 2,000 pages of freebies, many of they quite nice including clothing, shoes, skins. 2,000 pages! Would take you forever to get through them all.
Also tell her to run a search under events, under games. Looking for treasure hunts, freebie give aways.
Also the most exhaustive place for freebies I have found is freebie union. Many of the freebies for sale can be had for nothing or very little at freebie union and many are very nice. She can also find newbie hair vouchers there for Gurl 6.
If you visit the malls with tons of designers many designers also offer quality freebies that they made.
I rarely purchase things for my avatar, with exception of anything not able to be found free.

It is my opinion that there are to many top model like avatars out there and not enough interesting diffrent avatars..
She needs to find her own style, the most important thing is skin..
I wear long faded jeans shorts (not booty) cowboy boots and a tank top... black thick glasses and white hair.. although my avatar does have great lips..
My best friend in sl (and rl) is a cute tall skinny unperfect redhead... I love to see the femme avatars, males as well, with their own style.. It pains me to see that 90% (maybe slightly less) have to be perfect, now this is the way I see it... I may be wrong there are exceptions.. but if you have a perfect avatar, the perfect skin, the perfect clothing, the perfect everything.. you must be lacking in those things in RL.. You are creating an illusion of what you wish you were.. (well, tarina is a bit younger than I am and mostly she looks like me, except I have been losing sleep lately and have some dark circles forming) and how I dress in SL is how I would dress in RL.. although I will say, I wear a bathing suit alot more in rl then in SL... (florida again)
To many women and girls think they have to be perfect in RL, but what they fail to understand is that most people want interesting people, I like to draw people.. when I look for a subject.. I do not look for perfection.. I look for hard lines, I look for crooked noses... I look for deepset eyes and crooked teeth, to me this is interesting and tell a story.. you wonder what they are about what their life was like... how they came about those scars.. To me I want to get to know who they are... Tell their story with my crayons.. (hehe)
I think this plays true with the avatars in SL as well, oh yeah she's beautiful.. but look at that girl.. wow she has a big nose and OMG look at her butt!. I would be drawn more to talk to her than the model type.... (friendship wise you understand) I can tell she's going to be real...
I have a store.. but I do not think it would serve what she wants...

Fabulously Free in SL ( http://fabfree.wordpress.com) and SL Freestyle ( http://slfreestyle.blogspot.com) are great resources for freebies. There is no shortcut, she has to follow all the links and hunt down the freebies just like everyone else on the grid who wants to look good without paying much. Plus maybe she needs to understand that "free" in SL can also mean $L1, so she still might need some money... And shape makes a lot of difference. Ask her to play around with the appearance sliders till she finds a look she likes.

It took me a little while to figure out that the shapes on sale are made using the exact same appearance sliders we all have access to. It's quicker and easier to buy a shape you like, but it's also good to have a fiddle yourself...

As I told before, if she was a guy I could also give her shape and skin and even some hairs I don't use so often, that's why I asked the resident ladies heheheeh
Just remember that at Kdmad shop there is a table with freebies (one of the packs is from Redgrave and it has something for girls) and at grenies there is a free pack from L'Oreal lolol, and maybe Truth is still giving away the dollarfree hair
(I need to send her 500L$ so she can get a cool start....)

Nyte 'n Day do a complete starter pack for new ladies, including skin, hair, shoes and clothing. Also check out Eloh Eliot's 'Another Shop' for very good quality free skins. If your friend joins some fashion groups, she can do a search of their past notices and pick up some tremendous freebies that way too. PixelDolls have several sets of good freebie clothes at their shop as well. Also, she should check out Hazel's blog at http://fabfree.wordpress.com/ - all about great free stuff! If she's going to spend any money at all, the best and first investment should be a good quality skin (I am loving La Sylphide at the moment, but PixelSpa have just discounted their old range down to $L50 each, so worth a look if seriously broke, although I still think Eloh's incredibly generous gift to the community is the best deal out there). Second most important investment is hair. Say $0 for the Eloh skin, and $195 for hair from Sirena Hair & Fashion (which I also love), bringing a grand total of $L200, or around $1 RL. Then some good quality freebie clothes and shoes, and she's on her way MUCH better to make her own shape than buy one - a lot of bought ones are unmodifiable, and you're stuck with one look - not good if you find a skin you love, but it makes your lips look fat or something - with a homemade shape you can tweak it! If it's really nice, she could then try selling it and using any profits to buy clothes etc. with Gawd, hope SL come up soon or I'll get typist's cramp

Yup, PixelDolls gives a lot of gifts to their group via the Subscribe-o-Matic. They also have three free gifts in store (one at each entrance and one is the Cimarron set in the OnRez vendor on the wall). <3 Cupcakes has a number of free dresses in store (I think 4 dresses, 1 top and 1 pair of white jeans). DeFleur has quite a number of gowns put out for free. Actually there are so many great free outfits for women, I can't remember them all. Plus I got most of them from the blogs mentioned above! Off the top of my head, here is a list of places to get shoes and hair. If she wants SURLs or LMs, ask her to contact me in-world. For shoes: Maitreya is giving away for free their slinky stilettoes in black in a gift bag just outside the footwear section Mary Jane has a free pair of shoes in a box next to the lucky chair Digit Darkes has 2 free pairs of shoes in store, one pair in gold and one in silver La Comtesse has a free pair of silver heels at the entrance of the store Tesla has a pair of black shoes at the lucky chair area Baby Monkey has gifts too Basevi Moda has 2 pairs of shoes for free on the wall to the left of the store She's So Unusual Shoes has a number of free shoes in store Adam n Eve offer a free voucher to residents under 30 days old for a pair of shoes of any of the styles in the store. For hair: Most hair stores have 1L or free hairstyles. Hair Solutions ETD (loads of 1L styles, I think about 10) Goldie Locks Diversity Hair Frangipani Designs Philotic Energy Gurl 6 Bewitched Zero Style Biedermann's Quality Hair Diversity Hair and Gurl 6 also offer a free voucher to residents under 30 days old for a colour pack of any style in their stores. There are a lot of 1L skins for women, many of which are Eloh mods. Too many to list. Free skins from Sin Skins, Adam n Eve, & Fleur (formerly Tete A Pied) for residents under 30 days old. SYD also has a number of $1L skins & shapes. I can't remember all the rest. Oh, and ask your friend to go here and click the SecondStyle sign on the wall to the left of the entrance, she will get a bunch of gifts including a gorgeous gown from DeFleur and a pair of black heels from Zhao Shoes: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Le%20Zoo/118/27/22

I definitely second the suggestion to join designers' groups, using the Subscribomatic if possible so as not to fill up group spots. You'll be the first to know about new products and special sales, and many designers offer freebies or special deals to their group members.
I made a huge mistake when I created my alt - I let her join the Fashion Consolidated group. She has gone from the "wild child" I meant to create to a fashion plate who could literally spend all her time logged in reading FashCon notices, hopping to stores to take advantage of new offerings and sales, and trying on new stuff. Oh, and finding just the right setting to take pictures of herself. Sigh. But if your friend wants to do the fashion thing, that's a great way to get familiar with the variety of designers and styles that are out there.
Don't forget the freebie places - Sarah Nerd's Freebie Paradise, the Free Dove, Enkythings, the Gnubie Store, Yadni's - as well as the big-box freebie places. Sorting through the freebies is a good way to learn what to look for in more expensive items.
She'll want some lindens for the dollarbie items, of course.
Just remind your friend that just like in RL, SL bargain hunting can translate into saving money at the expense of spending time and sometimes it's easier just to lay out the dough for the look you really want. (Not to mention that supporting the folks who design and give away those freebies is the best way to ensure that they keep doing it!)
P.S. You might also want to mention that it's never too early to start organizing inventory and keeping "stuff" under control... Even designer freebies can add up fast!

Although, if you join too many Subscribe-o-Matic groups, your IMs will constantly get capped... in the beginning I used to join all of them just because I could, but now I'm a lot more careful lol.
I second the Gnubie Store. Awesome stuff there.

Thanks for all the answers, my cousin already started her quest Helping her on her pursuit I found Michami's blog... You ladies are trully lucky ... We don't have such quality and diversity (my cousin told me that she will use that blog as inspiration and me as her private banker lolol why do our younger relatives always think that we have to take care of them both in RL as in SL? lololol) Quaintly Tuqiri thanks for your help and for your visit to my apt last night, it was very helpfull and a pleasure to know you
