From: Conifer Dada What I am clear about is that I, Conifer Dada, have a consistent and credible identity. I don't morph into goblins, dwarfs or rugby players or whatever! All I change is my outfits and I sometimes I have my hair loose and sometimes tied back, that's all. You've got a very strong identification of self with image, Connie. Me too...I hardly ever change my shape. Although hair, makeup, and clothes are fair game. But some players like to be many things. One of my friends must have a hundred AVs or more. He'll show up one time as a dragon, another as a minor deity, or another as a sleek black tiger or a mafioso don. And he role-plays 'em all, too. He's a fun and funny guy, full of turns and surprises. It's OK to play either way. (and I love your signature. Keep that RL operator in her place!)

My alt, was created to express sides of my personality which I don't want to do with my main Av. She was created originaly to be a Furry, it had to do with her naming mostly, but since then also has become a mermaid, and human. Simple as that. It's working quite well. I had problems at first separating the two, but lately, I'm inworld with her, more than Elora so it's become easier. I will, however, show up at the party as Elora, I'm sure

I have considered an alt, once I started to try out RP, and delve into some of the "experimental" aspects of SL, but I figured Why Bother? I'm me, and anything I do here I don't have a problem with attaching to me. If I were in business I'd definitely have an alt, I see how friends get bombarded sometimes with business related stuff.

From: Cee Edman I want in on that! Seriously. Can you handle two gender-bending males, perhaps with another experienced (Ha! aren't they all?) female shopper to lead us around and teach us a thing or two about fashion and special stores and.. . and ... hair?
My beautiful black alt has problem hair.
Is it possible we can all be in world at the same time?
Or is this one of those things that should be left for one on one, like...you know. Whee! I'll go with you all! That is, if I'm not stepping on any toes, Lindal! You'll have to decide what sort of "look" you want. (Oh, and there are a few awesome black hairs over at Here Comes Trouble, and one of the Zoe skins at Naughty comes with hair. Simply lovely.)

(Because, among other things, there's a specific dress in your shop that I can't figure out from the display - I want to see you model it.) As for look, I'd say that at present I'm sophisticated-slutty-aloof {It's deliberate, not a matter of indecision} and need to separate those three wonderful attributes into more manageable personae. But I have what I consider the best ethnic skin in all of SL, (Ayesha Bisiani's finest) so there won't be a new skin wanted. Hair, yes. Skin, no. Clothes, of course. Shoes? Need one ask? BTW, I carry a Lindex machine in my inventory at all times. Walking ATM - Rez on demand. When I shop, lady, I shop!. At some point - tonight, tomorrow, whenever - I will show up at the hangout and introduce myself to you and/or Lindal (and all the curious, of course) if only to make plans.

Just Plain WRONG!!!
10-20-2007 15:00
From: Chestnut Rau i recently learned someone i know created an alt to partner someone who "stole his heart." he didnt want his rl wife or his sl wife to know about his secret partner. my head hurts thinking about how hard it must be to keep it all straight. Dearly Darling, This is a game. Obviously your friend has taken this a step further and in my book is cheating on BOTH his wives. Not a very mature thing to do...We women are not stupid and always find out in the end which makes it quite nasty. I just wonder if he's not the fellow who hit on my niece at her job. One of the other models there looked at his profile as she had not and it did say he was partnered. She rejected and muted his happy behind ASAP. That is in extremely poor taste. If you don't like or love someone any more...be an adult and say good bye. Believe it or not my RL/SL husband and I are friends with ALL our old beauxs. Maneo won a charity golf tourney with one of my old boy freinds. And another beaux is now married to a cousin! (his side.) When you find out that the people you like are not suited as life partners does not make them lesser human beings....you've just grown as a person. No crime. Not telling? The 14th circle of Hell. Shame on him! The rest of you have a lovely afternoon. Ever Yours, Mrs. Showdog Tiger

I foolishly didn't check back in on this thread and made other (RL) plans for this evening Thanks so much for the invitation Lindal, and I wish all of you happy shopping! BTW do check out the new(ish) Armidi sim if you haven't already - I picked up a couple of very nice Italian suits for myself last week, and lusted after some of the women's outfits on my alt's behalf Nice build too.

I set up a couple of alts to see if I suffered from that "strong link between self and image" thing that people have mentioned back up the thread. It seems the answer is "yes" to that one - can't really make the alts work very well. That guy marching about on the screen is *me*.
So if anyone wants to be Bonaventure Blackadder, drop me a line; let's talk...

Perre, just right click on your SL shortcut and go into properties. Under the shortcut tab, where it says 'target' you should have this...
"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -set SystemLanguage en-us -multiple
You have to add the '-multiple' at the end of the line. This allows you to launch SL more than once. Be sure to change the login to that of your alt.

Thanks for that Bree..unfortunately I tried it and got the same message "Error - SL is already running.." I even tried a system restart to renew my setting but no joy I'm afraid.
