newbie stupid question alert.

I'm not sure exactly what a neko is. I have a rough idea, but I can't quite put it together in the concept of SL. Can someone either post it here or if that's too off-topic, maybe PM me? "Furry", I have figured out. "Tiny", I'm a little scetchy on, but "Neko" is a mystery. I'm assuming it's more than Lexxi in a Playboy bunny outfit but substituting cat ears and a tail.

Neko can be anything from ears and a tail all the way up to questionably furry.

Tiny are tiny avatars =) the most well known are a series done by Wynx Whiplash (look up the person in game- best way to find a shop is in her profile picks). They come with a full prim body covering which will actually shrink your avatar beyond the smallest shape you can get the sliders down to- if I remember correctly they're just a bit larger than a default rezzed cube. Cute as a button, but you really do have to see to "get" it.

Furries are NOT a persecuted minority. I own a Dalek avatar, but you don't hear me complaining about discrimination because not every location has wheelchair ramps suited to a blob of protoplasm housed in a combat chassis that moves best on perfectly flat and level floors without seams.

Let's try to keep a sense of perspective, shall we? You are not your avatar, any more than I am a pistol-wielding twenty-something woman with large breasts when I play "Tomb Raider."

Plain and simple, it is discrimination.

As a note, I dont know what kind of Dalek you are, but the normal ones can levitate and fly.......

besides Furries are not bent on the destruction of all humanity.

I say let them in, and yes im Catholic, with open arms to anyone.

Are fancy restaurants that require a jacket and tie discriminating? If so, are they discriminating in a way that is acceptable or not? Legal or not?

be that way if you like, i feel that inworld, anyway, it is discrimination.

In SL its not a costume, it is the person.

to each their own.........

I don't understand the whole thing myself. It's not real life,so what's wrong with a giant dog in the church?:D

But at the same time I think using words like discriminatory when speaking about a fictional character is really insulting to people in real life who can't go change their skin anytime they want.JMO.

Woot! Way to go Colette!

Ok, here's your answer:

"This movie, to which was referred by a ResMod, hints at life unbalanced and thus obliquely to Trolls who inflame threads by taunting the OP."

Can I just put something else into the topic, ok now i just made my first alt and when I was offered the choice of basic av style, I could have chosen 4 human type styles or a furry style, so the fact you are partly encouraged to start life in SL as a furry doesn't that mean Linden Labs sanctions Furries and indeed by promoting them, do so legitimize that they are indeed an actual race in SL?

Oh and I have a 1960s Marx yellow Dalek and a 1970 (maybe 80s?) TOMY Red Dalek, plus the original K9 all in their original mint boxes. I have other amazing Dalek stuff too, but for the life of me i can't remember their correct names right now. Soon for sale on Ebay LOL.

Well, fine, but let's get a firm grip on reality, shall we?

Furries are NOT a persecuted minority.

'Persecuted' ? They're not hunted yet, that I know of. But they are shunned and discriminated against.

Why?

Because ignorant people hear the word "Furries" and assume they're all engaged in some sort of bizarre sexual costume play and react like Peejee in his comic strip:

http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp03292003.shtml

And those that know that those kind of furries are really an extremely small minority sometimes discriminate against furries because they look too 'cartoony' and clash with their pretentious 'attempting to be as photo realistic as possible' theme, be it Gor or otherwise.

... except, this being Forum Jeopardy, the appropriate response to this post would be "What is Koyaanisqatsi?" and, well, as you can see, this thread would never get anywhere! :p But, inappropriately: .

You are right, there is no bias against furries. If some sim owner wants only human shapes - not because his sim has a specific theme but because he just doesn't like any other ones - remove your furry costume and there we go. No problem there, right, because in SL we are not jugding any people because there are no people at all, just avatars.

Of course there is no bias against black avatars neither. If some sim owner doesn't want this horrid sight on his ground just remove your black guy costume and put a white skin and there we go!

I cannot see any problem there - or can I? Oh maybe now you will say "but there are black people in real life". So what. This is completely irrelevant because we are in SL and here there aren't any people at all, just avatars.

People seem to forget that Players become very attached to their normal form.

I have had to learn to tread lightly in my business. Very few people think they need much shape help. Maybe a minor tweek here or there. Even the most wildly shaped.

And no matter how unatural someone looks you will often hear a "this shape is based on me IRL" from them.

SO its really not as simple as just putting on another set of clothes. Not saying furries cant change avatars - but it will be the human AV that feels like a costume for many.
