It's the other way around for me for my 8600
.
The 169 drivers combined with 1.20 would cause the "Display driver has stopped responding...", the 175 ones have been glitch free.

Yep, same thing for me. It took me weeks to find out why i kept crashing after upgrading to 1.20 viewer. Lots of re-installing drivers and trying to "tweak" things. Finally did a search & found out it was caused by the nVidia drivers!!!
I downloaded the 177.83 forceware drivers (after trying a few others) & the problem was fixed. Hooray!!!
Now (not realising it was related - silly me) i've been having weird problems with my clothes, as per above posts. Again, i spent hours trying to figure out what i had done wrong, what option had i set that caused this to stuff up, etc. Back to search the forums - and WHAT!!!! another problem caused by the nVidia driver! Bloody Hell !!!!
So, now i have a dilema. Do I go back to the old driver & crash constantly (bugger that), or do I live with f**ked up clothes? Not much of a choice, I would rather a 3rd option - "somebody fixes the problem!".
Since these problems are related to running SL on a nVidia card, and the developers obviously know about it, can't they just write a patch to work around the problem? You would think that Linden should be more interested in getting it fixed than nVidia is likely to be.
Oh well, that's my rant, now a couple of serious questions:
1. Is the clothing problem only visible to me, or does everyone else see my clothes that way?
2. Has it stuffed up clothing in my inventory permanently? (ie. if & when a fix comes along, will all my clothes go back to normal?)
3. There is a new forceware driver out, 177.89 but apparently it doesn't come bundled with PhysX software. Does this latest driver fix the clothing problem? (has anyone tried it?)
4. If I install this driver, do I need the PhysX software for SL?
