Eddie is only 4 years old!

Apologies if this has already been posted. I vaguely recall something like it a few months back.

I doubt it's a TOS violation ... they didn't say Eddie was a child avatar. The number of adults now in SL exhibiting the reasoning powers of a 4-year-old is fairly high.

Is it me, or does anyone else think Eddie was right when he said that the first person would look in the original spot for the object?

Yeah. Eddy was right. The REPORTER was wrong. :D

Several things disturb me about this scenario…

1) My avi is me- I don't want a character walking about being "me" when I am not there- what would be the purpose?

2) Assuming one can give AI to these characters, is ethical? Would this world be enough for them?

3) Would we then truly be playing god- since we would always have the power to literally, "pull the plug"?

4) Right now, I can be in love with "you"- a human being on the other side of the keyboard whom I met first as a collection of pixels… what if you were only that? A collection of animated pixels, residing on the LL servers… what would that bode for us as lovers?

I am reminded of several novels with this sort of theme – The Silver Metal Lover, by Tanith Lee- a girl falls in love with a robot who some how "malfunctions" and has emotions… Mr. Data on the Enterprise – the ultimate Pinocchio story; Asimov's I Robot series…

And as always, Heinlein… with his World as Myth – we would breathe life into our creations… how will we write their stories? Or will they then write ours?

I didn't understand that either. Unless I was told or noticed the move on my own, I would go looking for my object where I put it.

ETA: Come to think of it, I've actually been in this situation. I have this free Rolls Royce. It's full perm. I used to set out copies that would allow anyone to drive it. I wouldn't put any signs that invited anyone to take, just let it set there. Without fail, after a few days, someone would "steal" it, lol. When I'd log back in to check on it, I would look where I put it. Why would I look anywhere else?

Well, he appears to be a child avatar, albeit a pretty rough one. Nevertheless, it's not a TOS violation to be a child avatar. Now, actually *being* a child would be another matter. 'course Eddie ain't dat, neither.

Eddie is under 18, however, and that is a TOS violation. At age four, doesn't even qualify for Teen Island! O.O

Agreed. How does it go? If you can't do, teach. If you can't teach, teach phys-ed. If you can't teach phys-ed, become a reporter? No, that's not right.

Anyway, the real point of this is:

1) better RP areas, with actual NPCs

But that's weak. The money is in:

2) landbots evaluating parcels before purchasing.

That's actually the picture of Sonny from "I, Robot" the movie.

Keep throwing this on my face... I sometimes reason at higher levels than four year olds.. but only when i am out of Captn. Crunch.

Having avies sometimes controlled by a computer could add a whole new set of possibilities.

- Honey, it was not me, it was the computer that took a fancy to your lingerie...
- I swear, it was the computer that was pixel bumping the neighbors.. I would never do that.
- No, it was the computer that was hanging out in the Abbey... I hate that place.
- It was not me, it was the computer that took the high priced hooker to a Washington DC hotel.

Does the milk for the Capt'n Crunch have to be at the perfect temperature? Slightly above freezing, and you have to add it to the cerial and eat quickly?

(Does anybody get that refererence?)

Dude - your computer is BUSTED!!

I generally reason at a higher level than a 4-year-old, but when I'm out of Captain Crunch, I regress. I also want apple juice and a nap and a tree fort.

Dang. Now that I think of it, a nap and a tree fort sound like fun. I'd LOVE a tree fort in RL! I have some trees, why don't I have a fort? OK, this summer I am seriously building a tree fort. Screw kids - they get all the fun! I'll allow girls in my fort, though. That part of being 4 was stupid. Some blankets and pillows, tucked away in the branches of a giant old maple tree on a warm summer afternoon - the wind rustling the leaves. Maybe a bottle of wine.

I love this idea.

I'd need a ramp for my Lil' Rascal. I'm not so much into climbing rickety rope ladders any more. ;)

How did you know? Have you been peeking?

We all know that eating cereal is a carefully choreographed exercise. Pick the right bowl, pour cereal, pour milk.. dump it on your sister's head!

Don't know... i don't even know what they are for.

I think you can make your own jar.. or maybe use a candy bowl instead.

It kind a add a new dimension to 'This chewing gum tastes funny...'
