Skirts/Dresses for Wider Hipped Ladies?

Every time I have tried on a system skirt, I HATE it. It looks all baggy and ill fitting. Am I doing something wrong? I love the prim skirts.

I am not fat or "big", I like a curvy Marilyn Monroe type figure. I didn't want to look like a 12yo with breasts (Geez, Amar, you have no idea how hard I am working on being good. I better get a hug LOL). IRL, I have a hourglass shape. Some men like it, some men don't. But I like it, so I brought it to SL.

More skirt-makers need to make a centered "anchor" prim as root instead of a random one of the pleats. Makes it much easier to re-center it after re-sizing, not to mention getting the rotation right if I switch from stomach to pelvis attach points (or vice versa).

Oh, and some of us like girls with actual *hips* and have modeled their av accordingly.

all of my prim skirts/shirt ruffles are copy/mod for that very reason. most i shop for are also. my av is tall and hour-glassy, so most of my stuff is big on a teeny av, and just right on a bigger av.

I appreciate that you are not being rude, so here is what I'd say-

Why?

Because it's fun!
Because I can!
Because I like it!
Because I identify with being a BBW/SSBBW, RL and SL.

All the same reasons anyone looks like anything in SL, really.

(besides, some men really DO like bigger women in RL and SL, and in my limited experience, in SL they usually have great imaginations and wonderful typing skills!)

@ Kate- Thank you and big hug Trust me, I am not a holier than though and with proper incentive can make a trucker blush- I'm married to one - just a time and place kind of thing- you know the saying, a lady in public and a ... in the bedroom - works wonders, really.

Re bigger shapes- heck why not? Sometimes I am rounder, other times not- deep down inside though- I really am a seven foot tall platinum blonde leopard girl- RL just hasn't caught up

I make all my skirts mod/copy because I realize we are all different in how we portray our selves-

when you mean the skirts don't fit- what happens to them? I get some skirts that look like the fabric is stretching, some skirts just can't be edited to fit on my hips, and some skirts look ripped. What does it mean if there looks like a rip in the middle of fabric? Thanks!

Are there any groups for men in world who like BBW? And you know what else, in my experience, a lot of men do like BBW. I have found several (all younger men too! And I am talking a lot younger lol) who appreciate me for who I am, and not whether I am close to a size 12.

It's funny, I often ask myself the same question... why do all these women want to run around with huge tits and no ass and no hips?? Or, how come men run around with no shirts on all the time? But, I understand it's a matter of personal preference...

I happen to LIKE my shapelier, "cushier" body IRL and there are plenty of men who appreciate it too. And there's NOTHING wrong with that. Ya know, it wasn't so long ago that curvier women (Marilyn Monroe was a size 12...) were considered extremely sexy.

I think it's about time for media to reconsider the images they show on TV and in magazines, and parents to reconsider how they parent their children so that there won't be all these girls running around going "omg, why would you ever want a pound of fat on you omgzzz!"

Tossing my two cents' worth in--some of us are shaped that way RL and do it in SL because it's just what we're used to seeing as "us" I think. Took me a long time to get comfortable adjusting my sliders to a bit more curvature, and now that I'm pleased with the results, I badly want RL hips to match.

I have a shirt in rl that says "who needs tits" (in front) with arrow and on back "with an ass like this" with arrow.. Love that shirt

But now I have to say there are extreems when being overweight is not healthy... Keeping fit is a good idea. Also there are some girls out there who just can't gain weight!! My sons girlfriend is one of these girls, she eats like a pig I've seen here and fed her on many occasions.... She just can't gain weigt... So don't dig on the skinny girls because sometimes they like the fat girls just can't help what the genes gave them..

You can always buy non-prim skirts. I stopped buying them a few months after the flexies were invented because they are almost impossible to modify for a small person like me. I imagine a plus size person would have similar problems. It is a shame that most clothing sellers only sell the prim stuff and not system clothing.

Most prim skirts look like I am wearing metal.

Good on you girls for no succumbing to media standards, I long for the day we can all have the courage to just be who we are.

A lot of men like curves on a woman, most men don’t find stick figures attractive. My AV certainly isn’t a stick, she has a butt etc and she is very much a reflection and extension of the RL me. Sadly I conform to a degree in RL, but that’s just me, each to their own.

I usually do a system skirt and flexi skirt in the same design or at least pants, like a cat suit of sorts. Some designs just look better the old way and my designs are not the typical of todays fashions. I have pretty much something for everyone except sorry to say men and kids. Just never have done any. Oh and my skirts are always Mod. If someone buys one that isnt I will always give them a mod copy.

Just a note... every time I've asked to have a prim skirt sized for my shape, designers have done it with a smile... as I do for my own customers. Designers do understand that people have differently shaped bodies, and that not all prim skirts fit all bodies. There's absolutely no shame in asking. The only request that most designers ask is for a copy of your shape, so it should be transferable. Either that, or be ready to spout off a lot of slider values. Not everyone will have the time or inclination to custom-edit a skirt, but believe me, it doesn't take a whole lot of time. Might as well ask.

Simple.. they probably think it looks good. Just like the white female AV's who crank up the junk in the trunk setting. Both are quite unrealistic and disproportionate. But this is SL, with dragons and vampires and robots and nekos... UNrealism is the norm.
